1979 American Standard Elongated Cadet Toilet Flushes

Discovered while "Out and About" during a hotel stay, this is just a plain ol' great American Standard Cadet toilet! Not quite sure why the hotel didn't keep it perfectly-clean, as hotel room toilets are usually kept in pretty good condition due to frequent cleaning. Nonetheless, this fixture exemplifies the beautiful, Cadet flushing, siphoning, and gurgling action that they are known for, while being just a bit on the slower side in terms of swiftness of the overall flush. Enjoy a selection of flushes on this guy, some plain and some with some tissue to demonstrate the bowl's currents during the flush.
Specific model information: American Standard Cadet 3089.018 bowl (standard height, 12" RI - 2 1/4” ball-pass trapway) coupled with a 4049.052 tank. Model combination designation: Cadet (elongated bowl) - Catalog Number 2108.056. Manufacturer date stamp: Not discovered due to unstable tank connection to bowl. Hotel opened in 1979, so our best guess estimate is this is a 1979 or possible 1978 model.
Recorded in the summer of 2014 at the Dobson Ranch Inn (since razed for new developments) in Mesa, Arizona on an iPhone 5s at 1080p @ 30 fps and edited in FCP.

    This is so satisfying. I love how the water just swirls slowly like that. It's so nice to watch. It's even better when tp is being flushed!

    I wasn’t around when the ToiletInsider channel was around, but why is it gone now?

  • @CapturingToilets

    @CapturingToilets

    Жыл бұрын

    Toilet Insider was created by this channel's founder nearly a decade ago to try to create regular, high-end educational content around toilets on a separate channel. Unfortunately, there were some life changes that got in the way, and after just a handful of videos that were put out, it just didn't live up to the concept. In many ways Project Beyond is actually the next generation of Toilet Insider, but this series will actually go forward and do what couldn't be done back then and much more. Today, while we're now a team, it's very small and much of the production work is still done by the founder. We're wrapping up the channel refresh and our new channel trailer this month, all while finalizing parts and components for Project Beyond to go to production. It's quite a lot of work but incredibly exciting! Sorry for the delays but we're making constant progress toward the "finish line" (figured a football reference would work today lol)

    Water level's pretty high, looks like it could overflow pretty easily if clogged. Wonder if there's a way you can adjust it on American toilets.

  • @CapturingToilets

    @CapturingToilets

    +TeraVolt Yes, but that's how these toilets are designed to work. And, if you flush nearly any toilet that is clogged, there's a good chance it could overflow.

  • @teravolt6113

    If you flush a clogged pure wash down European toilet, you'll see the water rise up like a siphonic American toilet would do and then it will mostly unclog by itself due to the water pressure and larger pipes. Merry Xmas

    Capturing Toilets why does it make that weird noise at the beginning of the flush

  • @CapturingToilets

    @CapturingToilets

    7 жыл бұрын

    This was a specific sound that American Standard toilets made during the 3.5 and 5.0 gpf eras, two special jets at the front of the bowl that directed stuff down toward the "mouth" of the toilet would make those "signature" sounds.
