1978 Yamaha XS750 Special Oil Change pt1

I recently bought a motorcycle, this one, this 1978 Yamaha xs750 special. Unknowingly, my cousin owned a 1979 and I drove it a bunch a decade ago! Ha!
Anyways, I couldn’t find a super helpful video on how to change this bikes oil AND where the oil filter is located, so here we go… :)
Also, please note, this video is a part 1 because I couldn’t get the filter cover off.. Haha! Hence the #fail…. But was still able to change the oil and will do the filter in 3 months when I have more preparation and knowledge that the bolt is salt corroded on.

Just bought the same bike, had to drill and easy out that oil filter bolt, it was missing the little gasket and someone over tightened it to stop it from leaking then he used a pipe wrench on it or something, mangled it all up. Had to order it on ebay.
Nice, you center stand works... my "nub" is broken off so it wont engage. Just drained mine and the drain plug had NO resistance. Thank the Lord it did not back out and drop my oil while riding.

Nice video. You nearly stripped that bolt because it's metric and you used a standard socket.

what oil did you use? I just picked up a Yamaha 1980 midnight special 850s

20w-50 4 stroke but depends on where you live. I’m in San Diego so very rarely is it ever super cold or super hot temperature
