I ran in the 800M race in 1978. Those were the days... Phil Knight told me if he could provide shoes that matched our school colors if I would wear them... Of course!

Rudy Chapa still has the HS 10,000 record from 1976 @ 28:32.

Wow, that was fantastic to watch! Thanks for posting it. Notes: Matthew Centrowitz the first, in the 1500m, didn't do too well, but wow, didn't Junior do well, and go one better than his dad! And in the same race, Steve Scott, just coming to prominence, winning in a world leading 3:37 - that of course didn't last long when Steve Ovett thrashed him on the European circuit!

Old Hayward Field. Before megalomaniac Phil Knight tore it all down to erect a monument to himself.
