Hey man, I have that same exact motor and it was converted to a Steer drive. I can't find a serial number so how would I go about getting parts?

i agree, its a 78. decals were different in 77

How is the lower unit lube changed in this motor ? There is only one lube hole . Also where is the tilt lock on this motor

Any idea where a guy can find a prop for this year and HP outboard? I'm having a tough time finding one.

I have the same motor. At idle if I put it in forward it would push half the h2o out of the same trash can.....lol

Hey! I am completely new to this subject and thought of building a RIB boat. many interested in the comments I see .... I have found a used 20HP outboard of this model. I wonder: can I make sure I have a steering wheel and throttle. either hydraulically or with wire.?! also wondering if I can get the gear lever at the driver's seat. so: I want to be able to control everything from a Jockey seat .. hope you understand what I'm asking for and that you understand my poor English! :))

Does anyone know why he replaced the impeller housing? Is this required when replacing impeller? I am about to do mine so I was wondering.

Either he simply purchased a kit which included all necessary parts, or the old one looked bad. It's not required to replace but they're cheap, so why not while everything is apart and in your hands at that point.

or do you know where i can get one?

Is shift rod exposed or contained?

loads of them on ebay... i looked today and there was a stainless steal one on there for $50 plus shipping

the water pump should be putting out a steady steam, not dribbling like that? Did ya put the pump in backwards, the veins curved the wrong way?
