I wish Mercedes would go back to this sort of MBtex quality in their seats. I've owned several W211's and a W212 and all of them developed cracks in the seats in less than five years of "gentle" use. I have a 40 year old W123 and a 43 year old W116, both with MBTEX. They have zero cracks or tears and still looks great after all these years. That's a nice 240D you have there, gotta love the simplicity of it.

A friend has one that has been sitting since the pandemic. It drove prior to that. It was well maintained. He thinks it needs a battery. 290k miles. 3 years Sitting. Anything I need to know? It’s automatic. Throw a battery in and Start it? Or special needs as diesel? I have interest in purchasing it very cheap likely. Paint looks rough. But maybe I can polish it really well.

Here in Texas speed limits are suggestions. I have been on the I-635 toll lanes in Dallas and doing 80 mph in the right lane the whole time while cars were whizzing.past me, some over 100 mph. (The speed limit is 75 mph). So I would NOT want to have a Mercedes 240D.
