Avenida (Recto-Carriedo) at Cubao lang gusto ko pasyalan noon. Wala pa LRT.

My last time in PI was Olongapo, Subic Bay in 1975. Favorite liberty port in the entire world. :)

Was in the US Navy and stationed at the Medical Clinic Naval Air Station Cubi Point Dec 1975 to March 1977, had my blue 74 VW Karmann Ghia with me and drove it all around and went to Manila a couple of time with a sailor originally from the area, who showed me the area, had a great time there

I was born in the Philippines in 1957. I grew up in Sta. Mesa, studied at UST then in MCU Zurbaran and Caloocan. I left in 1983 and settled down in San Francisco, California. I was able to visit the Philippines in 2006, things have changed a lot and many relatives and friends were gone. This video brought back many memories from the past. Thanks for this video.

1976, what a good year it was. That was my first year as "Batang Cubao", where I usually hang out, while I took my Nursing at Ortz. University. Lots of "chicks" around, I tell ya, while I swagger with my bellbottoms and my "Balimbing Disco shoes" (Pa-Jeproks style with long hair). Yup, Ortz. U., that everyone called a "Diploma Mill for Idiots" back in the day, was my dear alma mater. Well, I made it to Riyadh, Seoul, Anchorage, and finally here to Chicago, and the naysayers are still stuck in Pinas. Who's laughing now? He-he. Ïf you ain't laughing, you ain't living, baby..." as they say in my hood, Southside Chicago. I listened to the advice of Mr. Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, "Kaya ikaw, magsumikap ka!..." *I hope I have inspired someone today to strive harder to reach their goal/s. Thanks for the memories. I was there in Manila Oct. 1976 from Cebu City for my U.S. Embassy interview to join my whole family here in the U.S. I stayed with my Aunt and Uncle at Pilar Village House No. 1 in Las Pinas. I can still recall, have to take a Pedicab ride to get out of the compound then, take a Jeepney to Alabang and then a Bus ride to get to Quiapo. I can still remember the cassette tape recorders the Jeepneys playing Great Tagalog and English songs. It was really a very sad time for me coz, even though I will be coming to join my family, I left tons of great memories with my Barkadas in our neighborhood in Cebu City.

October 13,1976 was my first day of employment at distillery near Malacanang...lasted 29 years.

I wish every country in the world is less crowded... It looks so idyllic.

A nostalgic feeling, even though I was yet to be around in that year of 1976 that I wish I lived through the era of my parents' generation. Tip in putting together a video. What you see and what you hear should match. For this video to work better, you could have used a more mid-70's background music to match the context.

Was at NAVCOMSTA PHIl from 70 to 72. Made many trips to Manila, one time on a Philippine Rabbit....never again. We usually stayed at the Makati (sp) hotel. In 72 I was staying there when Donald Southerland and Jane Fonda were there. They were on their anti war tour and later when Jane was filmed at AA site in Hanoi.

I was born in 71 at Ospital ng Maynila travelling along w Tatay remembering Manila what a Nostalgia!!!Strolling Dewey Blvd from Luneta to Eduardo's riding the double deck bus whoa.... Lot's of GIs around malate 😂😂😂 and the free concert at the park where's the fronton and children's park HUHUHU😭😭😭

Well, it's always better in the sense of simplier way of life, less population, lower cost of living, technology obviously is not as advanced now, BUT what we had then is all we needed & sufficient to have a good quality of life. That's why that mindset was stamped in the minds who lived in the older generation... is because it's TRUE. Ask them... our senior citizens. It's not just a mindset, they LIVED it.

This is the Philippines in 1976, a country that was second only to Japan in terms of industrialization until 1986, when EDSA people power happened. This country and its people deserve more, and I hope we Filipinos will be mindful of the forces that want to dismantle our government. We should keep an eye on the NPA and its supporters in particular. We can't afford another 30 decades of incompetent leadership. 😒
