This 1976 Ignacio Fleta e Hijos is a spectacular concert instrument from every perspective. It might be my favorite cedar Fletas. Among the usual attributes it has a huge, open quality to the fundamental notes themselves. While at the same time the tone is pure Fleta with the power and projection that made Fletas among the most desirable classical guitar of that era. In many ways the guitars of Ignacio Fleta represent the first real "super guitar" to come from Spain. The design of these instruments was a definite evolutionary step forward from the "traditional" Spanish guitar. Please note the term "traditional" is quite flexible in meaning as these guitars are now most assuredly considered part of the "traditional" guitar world. Which is to say they were so successful that they became as such.
In remarkable condition this instrument plays beautifully and is very responsive under the hands. It has the pianistic evenness of response that is a hallmark of the Fleta design, without the more nasal vocal quality that sometimes accompanies that quality. It is quite loud and immediate with a gorgeous tone and surprisingly broad tone palette. This is a thrilling guitar to play.
