    Truth. The 8.5 to 1 compression ratio mistaken as rear end. Him saying “No idea why you’d want a gas tank cover in the middle”?! How about so you can pull up to either side at a gas station and fill up with ease? I use my hand or a towel or t-shirt to keep gas from spilling onto my 82 or my 69. The gas spillage isn’t that big a deal really. It’s got a 74 rear end looks like and the torque and compression of a ‘74 L-48

    This is by far my most criticized video of all time. Partly because the seller told me it was a ‘76 and partly because I am not an expert on any of these cars. I just love driving them and looking at them. And I enjoy sharing them with you guys. Glad there are so many experts on here to correct my mistakes because I do not intend to give false information. Just having fun doing what I love, Driving cool and fun cars! 😎

    The C3 Corvette has always been my dream car and I finally managed to buy a '76 recently. I have to admit the whole "you should never meet your heros" thing (in that they never live up to your idealised view of them) did cross my mind before getting it though. I shouldn't have worried because it is just AWESOME! I can't believe how much fun the damn thing is! I've had plenty of musclecars over the years but none have brought me as much joy as my Corvette. If your dream car is a C3 Corvette I recommend you get one... get one now!

    I used to have a 1976 Corvette Stingray it was red on black with an automatic trans. This is not a '76. This is a 1974 with the split rear bumper, steering wheel, seats and climate control like this. '74 was the only year model with the seam on the back bumper.

    Car is definitely a homologation of couple of years. 76 was the first year with the factory alarm, indicated by the lock set on the driver's fender in front if Stingray emblem. The 76 interior didn't have the vent controls on the console. To me the whole interior looks earlier than 76. The tail is definitely not 76. I didn't see the split, but the separate letters indicate a 75 tail( if no split). 76 was a tighter "Corvette" molded recess is much tighter together and total length wS around 6" with no "spread" between the letters. The console indicates possibly an L-48.

    @Chad Pukaite that's unique, Chad. As the earlier alarm cars(which were optional) had the alarm keyset on the center of the rear tail section. I'm not absolutely sure, but the alarm was a DOT mandate on the 76 and beyond models due to high theft rate. Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. My intention is only to gain as much "accurate" knowledge as I can about the cars I have loved and owned since I was a teenager. Currently own a C-4 convertible and a C-5 6spd coupe. Have owned a 58(at age15), 64(at age 16), 76(at age 17), 81(at age 20), 87 coupe(at age 27)(hiatus due to starting a family), 93 coupe( at age 42)(family growing faster than my wallet), 87 Convertible(at age 47) and my last one a 2000 Arctic White 6sd coupe at age 52. Given the chance, I would own any and as many as I could. Keep up the enthusiasm for America's only true sports car.

    FYI: This particular C3 does not have A/C, just air. The steering wheel is from an earlier model as are the seats which makes me wonder if this is a 75’, and not really a 76’. I’m currently still watching this vid(on my tv) and it looks like the bumper is also from a 75. It has the recessed lettering and the bumper is split down the middle. Not trying to critique your vid or come off as a know-it-all but I have a 76’ Stingray myself I just purchased and I research EVERYTHING I’m interested in.👍🏾 Thanks for the post!

    I’m not an expert with Corvettes. I didn’t do much research on this car. The owner said it is a 76 but he could have made a mistake. It very well could be a 75. I haven’t seen the title so I don’t know for sure! The listing on Craig’s Lost day 76.

    I own an all original '76 as well, the 76 didn't have that bumper ( bumper looks more 74 or aftermarket), the 76 didn't have that specific seat set, the steering wheel definitely isn't from a 76, I haven't seen a 76 say " corvette " at the top where vents normally are but then again I never see these without the A/C option, more rare to have a c3 vette WITHOUT the A/C, power steering, and power brakes. The front nose emblem is not the same as a 76, looks like the one the 74-75 used but probably 74 because of the seats and that rear bumper having the center split, one year only bumper right there. I can also say this is definitely not a 76 without a doubt, because one shot of the passenger rear view mirror shows you the window, which says " Astro " on it, these once had what was called " Astro Ventilation " and the back glass could actually be removed and stored in the rear compartment area among other things, 76 didn't come with that at all, 76 was the last year for stingray ( until 2014 ) but was very bland compared to the rest. Just no way this can be a 76, if the papers say 76 on it, they are wrong and I would be highly suspicious of foul play with documentation, stuff to look out for.

  • @Avery_Piano

    @Avery_Piano

    3 жыл бұрын

    Also to add onto my other comment, after checking the listing, this has to be a 74, no doubt about it, the way the seatbelts give you the option for either just the lap belt or both the shoulder belt together, and everything else about it, and to correct myself from before, I believe 74 was actually the last year for astro ventilation but I don't remember 100%. If anything, the asking price of this car is super high but justifiable 100% but the value is HIGHER if you list it as the 74 it is, either way this is a beautiful car regardless of its year, I just reeeaaallly feel that some documents are messed up somewhere

    Avery Piano thanks for your comments. I believe the owner knows the correct year. If you say it’s a 74 you are probably correct. The ad was created by the owners friend and he may have put the wrong year. I will look into it. Thanks for the update!

    As others have mentioned it is a 74 Split-tail base model with a 195 HP. The radio is the optional AM/FM but it is not the high end stereo unit. The key can only be removed when the transmission is in reverse. That was the standard configuration for manual transmissions. It is called a reverse lockout. The clocks from that era failed the day after the warranty ran out. The other options on that car is AC and passenger side mirror, That is not the stock steering wheel or original tires. The original tires were white walls.

    Everyone, please stop calling the hand-brake "e-brake" - it's not for emergencies, it's for parking, and this one is operated by hand, thus: hand brake or parking brake. Though, I don't know what that dial around the radio volume knob is, perhaps L-R audio balance ?

    If you’re breaks have ever gone out on your car while driving on a country road you’d call it an e-brake too! 😂

    @@milesfast indeed, it could be used in _that_ emergency, but that’s not what it’s designed for, and how often do cars lose all hydraulic braking such that they are even in that situation? Even in an emergency, it’s still a hand brake for parking.
