Beautiful K5 Blazer. 1976 was the first year the K5 Blazers & Jimmys received the full doors like what are on the pickups & Suburbans, & the first year for the removable top to be only above the space behind the front bucket seats instead of the whole interior. 1976 was also the first year for rally wheels. Those generation K5 Blazers, Jimmys, Suburbans, pickups, & medium duty models were produced from 1973 - 1991 except the plain cab pickups "half ton & three quarter ton models only" were finished in 1987, & the one ton plain cab pickups were finished in 1989. Like the one ton plain cab pickups, the medium duty models with the cab were also finished in 1989 but the medium duty models with school bus bodies on the other hand were still in production up through 1991. Rewind to 1985 which was the first year they began producing the medium duty models with the school bus bodies because buses with the previous 1967 -1972 nose design on the front were still in production up through 1984.

I build a lot of square bodies and had a 76 k5 in high school. Fantastic job ! A majority of folks stall out on a project of that magnitude. Quite the accomplishment! Pro tip, if you want to knock back the orange peel a bit without wet sanding get a denim pad for a rotary buffer and use a good cutting compound and work your way back through the finishing steps with foam. Beautiful truck and well done.

What a beautiful K5 blazer!!! I absolutely love it and everything you have done to it!!! When I was younger I come to absolutely hating blazers for a buddy of mine had one and he went around a corner on higher and there was a lady in the middle of the highway trying to get a goose off the highway!!! He absolutely did not have time to get stopped and ended up just taking the ditch and well that didn’t pan out all that good!!! He ended up rolling the blazer two or three times and that pretty much destroyed his blazer!!! He actually ended up dropping his speed down to 25 to 30 mph when he decided to either end up hitting the lady or taking the ditch witch is what he decided to do!!! After seeing the damage that it did they kinda scared me to ever buy one!!! But as I got older I did end up buying the first year with the full removable top on it!! The guy that I bought it from had it since he was in high school where he had restored it and he was never driving it and it just sat in his barn after he had graduated from high school for probably 10 years!! He would get it out of his barn once a year and wash it and he would detail the inside and out and then put it back in the barn!! When I bought it I had another friend that had just blown his truck up and didn’t have anything else to drive and he ended up talking me out of it but I had told him that if he sold it that I was to get first dibs on it again!!! Well that never happened and I was pretty unhappy about him not keeping his word on me having the first dibs on it!! I definitely wish now that I would have never sold it to begin with!!! Now I’ve been looking for a 1969-1972 Chevy blazer and they are definitely hard to find to where they aren’t all rusted completely out or at least in my location of Iowa!!! What an awesome blazer for sure!!!

Love it! I'd like to see the spare tire bracket that you built to fit the bigger tires.

I don't think KZread lets me add a picture but I basically got some thick flat steel from Home Depot and bent it to the shape I needed and drilled holes to bolt it to the tire and floor, kind of ended up looking like two 'L' brackets put together
