I"m glad to see this 1975 Road Runner get previewed. This one year only body style for the Road Runner doesn't get the praise and love that it deserves. I've always been the kind of car guy that loves cars that other's neglect. I think this mix of mid size luxury and performance(before the heavy emission controls started) is a wonderful car. Not everyone needs nor wants a 1970's car to be happy. In Aztec gold and black stripes this car is a head turner for sure.

¡Saludos cordiales!

Beautiful Road Runner in Aztec Gold! Essence! It's great and incredible to see car like this in such a fantastic and clean condition. And even with the 400 4-barrel V8. Only 7183 Road Runners were built in 1975 and more than half of them had the 318 engine. Very rare! Perfect episode, Lou👌

This Road Runner caught my eye at the recent MCACN as part of its Malaise Era exhibit. A real standout in that I can't recall the last time I saw one. A throwback to those government-regulated mid-'70s days to see its speedo calibrated only up to 100 mph, but still a wonderful Mopar!

My best friend was finally able to get his dream car in 2015. It was a Black 69 Road Runner, , 383, 4 speed. He dolled it up, got sick, didnt feel like finishing it , decided to sell it, bought a 2014 Dodge Challenger Hemi. Later he found out he was in stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer. He passed away one minute after midnight which was New Years Day 2021. He left the Challenger to his brother because I already had one. He left me his 2000 Chevy Z-71, which looks awesome. I already have one of those, too.....I leave his in the barn because I break down when I look at it. Life is short, yall, life is short.

Love this car, this one. Color combo and body style...front clip area reminded me of the 70-72 Monte Carlo. I had left Chevrolet after several years and went to our local Chrysler-Plymouth dealer to work in 75. I don't recall us ever getting a RR but we did have a few Sport Fury (same car body) models come in and the owner's wife got one in Blue/White (demonstrator we called them) and when she was finished I got to take it home for a weekend. I really liked the size and handling of the car even with the small block V8. This RR is a rare bird and he's a lucky owner and to have one of every year? Who is this guy? Names were clever, Puddles and Goldie. Fitting also.

The 400 engines in these cars were dismissed as "smog motors" when they came out, but they have a lot of potential. Hotrodders finally figured that out. Chrysler 400 motors are now sought after for their huge factory bore spacings and strong bottom ends.

This is an interesting Mopar. The 1975 Plymouth Road Runner was the last year of the true Road Runner. They were all only equipped with an automatic transmission which took away some of it's sportiness. The Aztec Gold paint scheme makes it look good, and the 400 engine sounds healthy. It has the "Beep Beep" horn to make it a true Road Runner. Emissions killed the true muscle car by 1975, which is why it was probably its last year in production. That was the first year the catalytic converters were a federal mandate on all cars, requiring unleaded gasolines.

In 75 the neighbor across the street was a (probably) mid-level exec at PH&H and they had they a Chrysler connection at the time. For whatever reason he (probably 40 and with 3 kids) chose a Road Runner, in gold with the Sundance interior no less. His had the disappearing tunnel on the decklid and the optional 'road wheels'. It was a 360/4 dual exhaust too which was top dog (better than the 400 and specific to the RR, which made it pretty quick - for the time. But really, these were a shadow of their former selves - came standard with a 318 for goodness sake - even in the RR. Credit Chrysler for better handling than most GM mid-size couple and certainly the Fords, but the market had shifted overwhelmingly to 'personal luxury' and Chrysler moved a 150k Cordobas; compared to about 120k mid-sized Furys, coupe, sedan and wagons. Dodges Coronet/Charger didn't even crack 100k.

Hi Robert, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I'm being nice. That is not s muscle car by any stretch of the imagination. It's cute but not a muscle car. Thanks for the video Lou. Props to the owner of a nice "car".

As you know Robs Big Tent Revival in 1975 throwing some stickers on your car and shoving a big engine with fuel restrictions in the engine compartment, sadly this was pretty close to a muscle car in 1975, and clearly not like we had 10 to 4 years before, and clearly not like the HP we have now. But this time traveler takes us right back to 1975 very nicely :-)
Is that thing a stock block Indy car with fenders added? Nice Mopar Lou 👍👍👍
