1975 Gottlieb 300 pinball machine
The latest machine in the London Pinball workshop is Gottlieb's 1975 4-player machine entitled "300". This is a bowling-themed game that makes nifty use of backglass animation for scoring the bonus.
The game is mildly fun to play, with the most satisfying shot being the spinner straight up the middle. I wish the designer (Ed Krynski) didn't put a pop bumper right behind it, though, because I find that most often the ball comes sailing right back through the spinner, thereby cutting short the number of spins that should be achieved with a hard shot.
The "mystery" hole that scores one, two, or three bonuses is kinda neat. And the pachinko/bagatelle-style lanes down the right side of the playfield are kinda cool to maneuver through while trying to maximize the bonus.
The backgalss animation is cool, but I wish it did something a little more. I constantly find myself trying to get all 10 balls loaded, but doing so accomplishes nothing. It would have been nice if maxing out the bonus lit the playfield special or somthing.
And speaking of the playfield special, as far as I can tell, the only way to light it is by the "chance" rollover at the top of the playfield, which is only lit at the beginning of each ball.
Artwork is typical Gordon Morrison and looks really good. It's a pretty game, for sure.
Overall, not a bad player. It's fast and entertaining for a few games, anyway.

I loved pinball in the 70s
Good memories, good music, good cars back then.
I love the 80s+ machines, but the 60s and 70s ones are works of art.
As a fan, I have restored many Gottliebs. Flippers are bullet proof.. Even after 30-60 years they are still spot on. Reset banks and steppers, well......another story. Nice and beautiful machine. Thumbs up. Don't get me started on the system 1 spider chips.....glad there are now re-po's
This was the first EM that I played!
When i was a teenager i played almost every Gottlieb pinball machines from the 70's in just about every candy store pizza place and arcade now i would have to drive over 800 miles to Vegas to a museum damn i'm getting old lol

Not the same man. The man who made these games capitalized his name.
looks fun
Beautiful, better than the pinball game app in ios games, wow:-)
I played the 2 player version of this game Top Score
I play this pinball.
The special lighting is very hard on this, and gets annoying. But good action for this type of EM.
Almost the same table design as Centigrade 37
Can you by one of the pinball
Just picked up a 300 for very cheap here in Montreal. One thing though; you realize that it isn't supposed to have a centre post, right?

Could it have been optional, placed on machines by technicians, sometimes per owners request?

@@20alphabet Optional parts would have holes pre-drilled from the factory. E.g. the "Liberal" and "Conservative" positions for outlane posts. That said, operators and technicians certainly did add center posts to games, regardless of whether or not it was a "factory" option.
