1974 Triumph Trident restoration Part: 5 Finishing the clutch and getting it to work
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video, We start out by trying to achieve the best run out possible with the clutch. We then show getting the clutch to fully release and talk about what we had to do to get it to happen, then we take the clutch apart to be able to upgrade the bearing then assemble it for the last time. After all that we replace the cush assembly rubber pieces. We hope you enjoy the informative and interesting stuff going on in this video.

The ghosts of Doug Hele and Macguiver are smiling on you!
You could put the chainwheel/clutch assembly on a crank balance wheel to check the runout. The original ball bearing is not side loaded. The nut has a relief so it only loads on the lift plate. If the clutch cable casing moves it is loosing travel. 7303 angular contact bearing. The Belleville spring rolls on the rib, does not need lube. Use MSO2 dry lube on splines and tabs. Use P80 rubber lube on cushions. New cushions are larger on the drive side and smaller on the rebound.
Classic Triumph put videos on KZread about 7 years ago showing most of this information.
Thanks for another informative video
Ingenious set-up for compressing the one side rubbers of the shock absorber. Well done!
I was always taught that we should tighten the screws in a cross pattern, where your second bolt is diagonally opposite the first, then back and forth as you work your way around. I guess that’s not so important with only tightening each bolt one turn at a time?

Well the guy that my father was helping years ago at the Triumph dealership showed and taught him the same way that we did this clutch, he had told him it was best way not to warp anything taking it apart or putting it back together when it came to clutches like these.
If you buy a '74' Trident make sure the clutch has been gone over.
Please what Norton clutch lever is that? Part no. Or description?
