These LWT 1974 World Cup shows are great! I was only 2 years old back then. Wow I am watching a 42 year old show, and the good old days of tv were best! Thanks for sharing.

Johnny Warren Fans, Thanks for providing these programmes from World Cup '74 on your channel-great to have a taste of World Cup atmosphere! In this programme some disquiet was raised about internationally inexperienced referees taking charge of crucial games in the finals-a long-standing concern which also raised its head in subsequent tournaments.

I remember watching this at the time.

When i watch either the 1974 or the 1978 world Cups a tear appears in my eye 👁‍🗨 as England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 failed to qualify for both of them ☹️☹️, but when i look at the way the jocks performed my tears of sadness immediately turn into tears of absolute hilarity 🤣🤣

Euro 2020 (as it turned out 21!) I was routing for Scotland (honestly) especially V cz rep and hope for once reach the knockouts for the vtteva. Turns out they bloody didn't and as I look back in hindsight, I (without being too hard cos after all...I do have some ancestors from the neck of the woods) think it's payback time for wrecking Wembley's goalposts in 1977!

Absolutely. Nothing finer than watching England fall flat on their at every major tournament after the media and their biased pundits have their route to the final planned out before a ball is even kicked. Now that really is hilarious. Which of Europe's so called ' big five' (Germany, France, England, Italy and Spain) has BY FAR the worst record in major tournament? This is true, but ITV is broadcaster for the whole Britain, and also players like Bremner played in English football and perhaps felt a sense of Britishness that others didn't. It's also true people in the home nations tend to take more interest (not necessarily supportive of course!) in the other home nations in tournaments than they would an overseas nation.

Looking back in them days. Up until the 78 world Cup. I knew Jack shit about football honestly!...let alone offsides and fangled vars an all. I noticed Scotland were in that world Cup in Argentina but no England (tad disappointed) so the way I was brought up as a 10 year old, stick up for a British team at the time...why not? In other words I went berserk when Archie scored That goal v Holland.

Lovedthis but was glad to see the scots go out, Am English and we never want Scotland to win ..
