Nice to see you driving. I was going to tell you to be sure you had a couple of carb. diaphragms until I saw you had them included. I did the drive from Hamilton to North Vancouver Island and back couple of years ago and the diaphragms and a starter engage solenoid were the only failures. Diaphragms changed in Medicine Hat on the way out and some fun push starts (engage solenoid failure) on the way back made for a fun trip. 2 Tow starts with the assistance of Menonites with their black pick up trucks in Manitoba. I also gassed her up with the engine running a few times. I made sure she was parked on a hill In Kenora , Marathon and the Soo and completed the trip after 14k. I loved the seats so much I applied for a kidney change in Calgary. They just laughed. Take a soft rag and place it by your right thigh, you may need to wipe the inside of the windshield down constantly.

I love the 69 seats. I still have a pair in the attic over the garage. I had them in my 63 TR 4 and then my last 67 TR 4a. I put the GT6 seats back into the 63 and the 67 TR 4 seats back into the 67 when I sold them. They were comfortable for my 6’4” frame. The drop down headrest were perfect with the flat tonneau cover I carried over to each of the TR4s I had. I traded the next to last one for a BMW 2002a (a for automatic) which with being a hardtop greatly fit my student needs in metropolitan New Jersey at the time. After graduation I put the parts car (complete chassis and drive train, body from front bumper to A pillar and windshield) into driving service (sort of my own TR5, a front end from a TR4 and from the doors back a TR6 body). And the 69 seats went into that one too. The seats wait patiently for maybe one last ride.

My new Mercedes doesn't even have a spare tire (as far as I know), much less a screw driver. I doubt whether anyone will be driving it 46 years from now, however. Good luck on the trip and we're looking forward to some great video coverage. Bon voyage!

Thanks for describing the waist seal install; I've always wondered about those. Good luck on your journey- I couldn't imagine driving that long in the normal seats. I also have a roll bar and cant put the seat back far enough...knees against the dash...

Hi Farrell, just wanted to report back that the 69 seats are indeed much more comfortable than the 73 seats. The drive was so much nicer with them.

Chef, I saw an earlier video where you changed the oil in the Armstrong shocks … I’m curious of ur opinion on changing oil in the shocks if there are no leaks BUT likely the original oil on my 75 TR6 … thoughts ?

Hi Scott, definitely a benefit if you are looking to stiffen up the ride a little bit in the rear to go to a heavier oil. I think it would benefit them even if you were to just clean them and refresh the oil that’s in them even if you don’t up the viscosity.

Love to hear your thoughts on Konigs Tush , what impact do those lower profile tires have on ride?
@cheftush
4 жыл бұрын
MrRdb1963 Well, I don’t find the ride overly harsh...I think I still have enough sidewall to cushion some of the bumps...I have this car set up pretty stiff anyway as I have 1 inch lowered comp springs, oversized sway bars front and rear, koni adjustable shocks in the front and revalved heavy duty lever shocks in the rear. So, it’s really a combination of things that I have going on but I still enjoy the ride.

David, I think the Konig Rewinds look great on your TR6. I'm curious if they're 15 or 16 inch diameter and what size tyre you are using?

@@cheftushThanks for your response. One last question; do you have any rubbing issues on the front suspension or are you using 1/2 inch spacers as recommended by Kai at Wishbone.
