    Fantastic video. Has given me more insight for a seat swap. i have 2012 kia forte. i want leather and power seats. My main issue is the custom work. i do a lot of custom work but i dont dabble much into welding. im fantastic w my angle grinder and dremel however.

    really enjoyed this video. Another guy used these seats and said you sit lower. I was leaning toward Mazda 3 seats, junkyard has both, same price..for my 73 beetle - same problem, 30 mph and you are sliding all over the place...

    Before I bought my Tiburon I actually went to the junkyard and sat in practically every car model and sat in them. I fell in love with the tib seats. Tho I had to scrap the car after literally everything broke at once so I'm about to put my old tib seats in my Firebird

    Velocity Labs Yes you must complete your work, not just half done 😉 You'll see the back seat fits pretty well, you just need to custom make something under the bottom parts back to hook it into, quite easy. the backrest needs something in the bottom to stick in behind the bottom part (there is already holes for bolts), I used two pieces of plywood 😆. The top parts (my seat had splitter backrest) rested against a 20x40mm pipe fixed to vw original holes in the sides. I welded on two "ears" on the rod so the stock Tiboron back rest locking mechanism works with its buttons. At last you need to custom make something at the sides to fill the space, you will see when you are there.

    Today I learned the hard way that you ALWAYS have to check all measurements before buying something: I grabbed a nice pair of GTI MK5 seats only to see once I tried it to fit in that it and its track were way too wide to fit in the bug :( Guess I'll chase other seats. I'm thinking early 2000 Celica's.

  • @StaticLowLife

    @StaticLowLife

    Martin Born I believe it's usually a good thing to wait around an hour after cutting the electrics to not risk to blow your airbags so in this case there shouldn't be any worries. And I think you are actually on to something there when you talk about taking the airbag and parts out to save weight *thumbs up*

    @@MartinBorn Any good upholsterer can remove airbags without a trace left, but some shops won't, stating possible liability issues if some later owner with the same car reconnects them and then they don't deploy in an accident.
