1971 Plymouth Fury III Is it going to start? Will it drive? This MoPar was off the road for years!

This 1971 Plymouth Fury III was parked for a long time. Under the hood is a 383 big block V8. I was told the engine had a blown head gasket and had a severe miss. Let's get the thing home and delve into what is needed to get the car driving and if the engine really is in need of major work. Will it start? Will it drive? Only one way to find out.
Note:
This footage is from several months ago and some was lost but I felt like I should go ahead and post it up anyhow! This car has also already been sold! The main goal is to rehome these classics and save them from being scrapped/destroyed!

"Highland Hummingbird" is what the Chrysler engineers called it. I always use the later Nippondensos' any more because it's not 1/2 the size, 1/3 the draw, and spins twice as fast.

a beautiful old Plymouth Fury that with a little pampering could fairly easily be brought back to her former STOCK glory - the color looks like code T8 Tahitian Walnut metallic or Autumn Bronze metallic code K6

Thanks for showing a C-body you hardly ever see today. You cleaned it up beautifully. I have it's cousin, a '71 Fury III sedan, 360. Green green green. It has been reliable for 8 years and 40k miles. Busted motor and transmission mounts....like you say, driving them is the best part.

If you want to put the cop suspension & steering pieces on it, Murray B. Park in Ohio has some parts cars...I've also used 255/60 R15 tires on cop car wheels to put more of a contact patch down & keep the height "Right"

Ah, yes, the hulking Chryslers of the early 1970s. I think people either loved 'em or hated 'em. Personally, I just thought they were big and ugly. My grandmother drove Chryslers, not Dodge or Plymouth, all but one purchased used, from around 1964 to 1986 or so, but she skipped the Melville-esque '69-'73 models, and went from a '67 New Yorker to a '74 Newport, which seemed a bit sleeker and classier, to me, at least. The main thing I remember about them was that whiny starter belied the big, powerful, thirsty V8 that it cranked. I'm clearly not fan, preferring smaller, sleeker, more fuel-efficient cars in general, but I have to admit, if you wanted to float around in something *big* with more than just a nod to luxury, it was hard to beat Chrysler Corp for the money at the time.

I hear you- I like the '67-'76 era A-bodies best. Have a '69 Swinger with a 383 in it (original owner transplanted in back in '78-'79) and a '76 Valiant sedan with a 4-bbl, dual exhaust 318 (not stock, but not uber modified)

I wonder if 1970 model year front doors can be fitted? I'm saying that because that year they still had the front ventilated quarter windows still fitted & as standard. Might be a small thing but would make a big difference & look good on this.

    P 215 70 r 15 If you replace tires, I'd go up a size or two. In height, not width. P215 75R 15, P225 75 R 15 You really can't go wider unless you get 6-7 inch wheels.
