I remember this from the 1970's, though the dialogue was a little bit longer. I didn't know what was being said, but the chain around his head gave me the idea.

This commercial made a strong visual impression on me when I was growing up. I've searched for it occasionally over the years; thanks for posting!

Many thanks for this. I saw this as a child and it always stuck in my head. And it still serves a purpose, because anyone who saw it then and those who've seen it for the first time should be asking an important question: *who wants to put a chain and padlock on your brain, **_now?_*

I think that the answer to that is clear. Donald Trump wants to do that. He sure has brainwashed enough people. We are having it done to us now just like many had it done to them with communism.

I remember the chain and padlock, but was there another commercial in which the boy was wearing headphones and sitting in a carrel in a cavernous dark room whose walls you couldn't see? In college in the mid 1970s I took a foreign language class and when I stepped into the "language lab," there they were: the carrels and headphones. Immediately I recalled the commercial.

I know exactly the one you are referring to......the boy was repeating a phrase that sounded like "capitalisma seriglada". I wish I could find it.

I remember this commercial! I haven't seen it since the early 1970s , but in a way it was scary! Chains on a kid's head? A robotic voice in the background and the kid looked like a zombie repeating word for word what the reds wanted him to say!

(Me, too, vivid memory.) I've always wondered what things the boy is repeating. Anyone know the language and the translation?

It's Bulgarian. Last phrase means "Party doesn't sin". But I can't recognize first phrase despite that language is close to my native (Russian) language.
