I had a '70 340 Duster that my dad and I restored in 1987. Mine was basically stock except for headers and the Carter carb was junk so we put a 750 Holley on it. It would run 14.1s all day with 3.23 gears and street tires and 145mph on the top end. Mid to high 13s were just a gear change away. It would also get 16 mpg at highway speeds. Big blocks were it's only competition. Street driven Boss 302s and 350 Camaros were a waste of time. These cars were definitely giant killers at an affordable price.

OMG, I bought that exact same Duster 340 when I was in Vietnam, ordered it through our base BX, paid for it there. And when I got home from Vietnam in Jan 1970, the next month my mom drove me to the Miami dealer it was delivered to. We went there, I signed some papers, drove it home!!! Vitamin C Orange, 4 speed manual, the "performance" E70x14 tires, manual windows, 3:55 rear end. I SO LOVED that car, sure wish I had it now!!! But here is a photo montage of it I put together, I think those first pics were taken the day I brought it home... Feb, 1970!! It was the first Duster 340 in my home town, won more than my share of street contests with it, lol!!! kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6WkxMino86XccY.html

Great presentation of a great car! Again, a car I've owned. Sort of. Mine was a '73, but close enough for gov't. work. Well, my comment wouldn't be complete if I didn't belly ache about something. You called the tach a "clock." But hey, close enough, right? LOL! Just yankin' your chain. Good job! ---Jim

In the mid 70's, after kids realized the weight to hp ratio in auto shop, these cars were hard to find. Very, very, cool. A Duster with bench seat..... I mean, if you bought a Duster or Demon, back in the day, you spent the extra $30 for bucket seats. LOL.
