One of the most desirable muscle cars with a truly amazing, documented history! 25 minutes of 8 mm vintage footage! 63,772 mile survivor. Original born with, # matching components throughout.
HISTORY: 1 owner until 2006. Robert Kabel had always raced Oldsmobiles; he knew the 70 W-30 would be the baddest Olds to date. He special ordered this car from the dealership his father once owned. The only power accessory was power windows which he wanted because he rode with his dog. He changed a few bolt on parts to go even faster but the engine has never been out of this car. After its racing days were over, he reinstalled the original parts. Every part is claimed to be born to this car except the alternator. He raced throughout WI and upper MI. He held the track record for 3 years in Eau Claire WI running 12.08 @ 112 mph. I quote him saying "during my ownership until 2006 I took very good care of my car." I bought it from a 442 collector that has owned it since 2014, he became personal friends with the original owner.
DOCUMENTAION: 25 minutes of vintage super 8 movies converted to dvd! I think this is the coolest thing ever. It includes this car going down the drag strip, in the pits, parades and more. Very exciting! Notarized letter, vintage pictures, and maintenance records. Original time slips, original invoice, and original window sticker
EXTERIOR: All original metal and ram air hood. A good portion of the car still wears its original paint! Special ordered Nugget Gold, it has - on the trim tag. I think the paint shows very well for a survivor. The patina includes typical chips and scratches character. The stripes are original from the factory. In 1973 it was bumped in back; the trunk lid was repainted. The ram air hood is original with no cracks! It has the optional 1970 only sport mirrors. Original chrome, trim, grills except the rear bumper which was replaced in 1973. It still has its original metal door edge guards. Original glass and weatherstrips still in very good condition. Those are the original rims with reproduction tires. It still has the original tow bar that was used to take it to the track!
INTERIOR: All original interior and it looks close to new! All the upholstery, door panels, carpet, headliner are original and still looks great. The dash area is mint- knobs, heater controls, lenses, vents etc. He did not order gauges because he preferred his own. You can see the indentation on the dash from his tachometer. It has the lamp group, original mats, vanity mirror and a sport wheel. He also ordered power windows. The seatbelts, visors, rear shelf are mint. Original Hurst shifter for a bench seat.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original born with motor and components except the alternator which was replaced at the dealer in 1972. The motor has never been out of the car, it's never been spray painted over. It's vin # matched, has the F heads and factory aluminum intake. Complete original ram air system. The 4-speed cars had a hotter cam and could not be ordered with power brakes because there was not enough vacuum. Those are the original red inner fenders. Reproduction spring clamp cables and a Delco battery topper.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely original spatter paint in mint shape. Under the trunk lid is original paint and decals. Original spare and jack assembly. Original weatherstrip with the paint marking at the top for the assembly line worker. It has a working trunk light, reproduction mat.
UNDERSIDE: Very original, maintained as needed. It has the Rallye Suspension which
Includes boxed rear control arms, front and rear sway bars. Disc brakes in front, e-brake is hooked up. New correct dual exhaust system with correct trumpet tips. The underbody, floors, frame rails, braces are original with no rust. It has never even been spray painted over. Bottom of the motor is original, also never been spray painted. We verified the matching vin on the side of the block. Original vin # matching Muncie M-21 4-speed. Original 3.91 12 bolt posi rear with an aluminum W-27 cover.
This is collector's gold! The car by itself is worth what we are asking. I honestly feel the iron clad documentation is invaluable, fun and interesting. Worth it's own weight in gold. All the years I've been doing this I have never seen documentation this good. Not to mention it happens to be with one of the most desirable muscle cars there are!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.

The condition of the frame and underside components are terrible. The price of this beautiful Olds does not take this into consideration. The price indicates it should have had a frame-off concourse resto, fram and components included.

My biggest question is why would this guy ever have mounted the tach to the dash, and scared it, as opposed to strapping it to the steering column ???

Better question, why not order the rallye pack??? A car like this with idiot lights is almost sacrilegious.

You just can't see the the dash mounted tach well enough when racing seriously. I had mine mounted on the column in both my 67 - 442 (4spd cr - 3.90 posi) and also in my 69 w-30 (4spd cr - 4.33 posi.) The dash mount would be optimum as it was in the 56 vette we raced in the mid-60's.

I chose a fine, fast nicely restored 1970 GS Stage 1 over either of them. I have the 8 min. vid of it racing this car and beating it on DVD converted from old 8 mm in 1970 . I called Volo and was going to send it to them but they weren't interested.

Sorry but there's no way in hell that engine has never been out of the car.. w30 factory stock Pistons are notoriously weak and will come apart as I'm sure it has and did in that engine.
