This should go without saying, but any negative comments about the owners of these cars will lead to being banned from the channel. If you owned a car that nice, would you be willing to take it to a drag strip? Let alone rev to 7000? Keep in mind these are not professional drivers, they are simply people having a good time, and we are very fortunate to even get to see these cars.

I think the 70 Boss 302 was one of the best looking cars ever made. I had a friend who owned one with headers, larger air cleaner and a stout geared rear end…he could run high 13s with it, they loved to be wound out to 7,000 rpms.

L82s did run great but somethings wrong with the BOSS or somebody don't know how to drive. 4:86s could be a lil steep for the BOSSES 6250 rev limiter tho too, unhook it the race may have come out different.....Chevelle is awesome, had a small block Nova that color.

Is the Mustang ok? I would've thought with 4.86 gears it would have done better

Reaffirms my memories of destroying every 302 boss mustang under the sun with my 70 440 sixpack Challenger.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who expected the mustang to win.

There are negative issues with the Boss, or perhaps the driver not real committed to running it, my 70 runs 14.30 with the only mod being of Hooker headers .

Seems like people forget what they built the boss for not for drag racing! Trans am competing in road racing. If you wanted a Boss for the strip you need get a 429 boss ,cj. Or the best 429 super cobra jet . Ready for takeoff.’😊

The Mustang looks like it had a clutch slippage problem.

The L82 was a darn, good engine. Nice to see one of those out racing. Beautiful Chevelle, thank you for sharing! And thanks for these great videos and several laugh out loud moments. ~ Chuck

My dad's first Corvette was a '78 Pace Car. I was so in awe the first time I saw the car. Sitting in the passenger seat at 10 years old and looking out over the hood at those huge fenders was something I can only describe as orgasmic!!!!! The car was brand new and the silver leather seats were chrome like. Unfortunately it was just an L48 car. My dad ended up being so disappointed in the performance that it never got driven. In '79 he bought a new 10th Anniversary T/A with the 400/4 speed and it would run circles around the Vette. I was even more in love with it and my dad actually gave it to me for a graduation present in 1986. I traded it in 1987 for a brand new Formula 350 because I thought it was so cool and my girlfriend at the time said I would look really sexy driving it. Wow what a mistake. They both would be gone by 1989. I would love to have that Trans Am back and I would even love to have my dad's old Corvette back. My dad sold it in 1987 with only 4k miles on it.

Didn't know the different ways you could get the Corvette. It ran really well. Was expecting the mustang to pull harder but that was a good race. Always liked the mustangs and javelins of that time. That green Chevelle was sweet. Sounds badass 👍

I've always thought that 78 two tone scheme without the stickers was so classy yet sporty looking. One of my all time favorite paint schemes on any car. Surprised that 302 didnt pull very hard

I remember a 1978 Corvette that raced at Gainesville around 1980. It was a stock L82 except for the exhaust and it ran 14.3s

Always loved these Corvettes. Should have bought one when I was younger. They were underrated from 0 to 60. Quarter mile drag, yeah they were not going to hang with a big boy from the 60s and early seventies.

My 1978 "Silver Anniversary Edition" L82 automatic listed at $18,600.00 CAD and the "Pace Car" listed at $25,000.00 CAD. That was huge money in 1978.
