1970 GSX Buick unboxing by Revell! My First Car

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This was kind of my first car, and a kit I built when I was 15 or 16
Hobby Lobby doesn't have this on their site to link, but you can find it.

Didn't the GS come in "stages" depending on what go fast goodies it had?

Everyone regrets selling their Skylark 😢 had 70 Skylark Custom, 350 2bbl put Kenne Bell cam in it out ran SS396 everything but the cam was original. had to sell it. Saddle brown, white vinyl top, white interior - have never seen that combo since. Bought the only 70 Skylark I could find in the late '80s, Convertible red, white top, black interior, stuck a 4bbl on it . Worst part was, every single quarter panel was crunched, was forced to sell it & my 87 GN - divorce 😢😢 So glad I found this I didn't know there was a model kit. Made my first model car with my dad, of his 64 Riviera Thanks ! edit:Tip when I built my 350, living in FL, I replaced the radiator with one for a 455 😉

My first car was a 1980 Datsun 210 sedan. My second car was a 72 Camaro RS. That's the car I would build a model of. Like you, I sold it and still regret it. It was only a 350 2bbl and automatic but I loved that car. I probably couldn't afford to buy it back.

Nice to see this kit back again. I also picked one up. Thanks for the open box review. I learned from your video here, that I need to open up the box & get the tires out of the bag with the body. The tires need to be bagged separately. This could cause tire burn to the body. Most kits today have the tires in their own bag by the manufacturer. So thanks, you may have prevented some damage.

I missed out on a 67 Plymouth Beleveder GTX 440, 4 speed when I was about 17-18. $3500.00. Dark blue with the Magnum 500 wheels.

I'll have to find somewhere other than Hobby Lobby to buy; they are suddenly gouging an extra $10 on kit prices and cutting down on shelf space for automotive kits A bunch of people need to stop buying there until they back off the price increases

  • @hooliganscalemodels5743

agreed, but when they run the 40 percent off sale every other week it is still the cheapest option. I wish they would just run a cheap regular every day price

  • @rayrussell6258

@@hooliganscalemodels5743 they have 40% off 365 days a year. Don't you know? It's not a "sale" you urgently have to wait on. All you do is go to the website and print out the 40% off coupon. I am a regular buyer at a small hobby shop, who gives me 10% off. I can feel better about the purchase there, helping the smaller guys, rather than paying HL's $10 premium. However even there, bottom line, I'm really serious that ..... we all have to close our wallets for the next two years, until these big corporations marketing the kits realize that customers don't see any rationale for these price increases and that they need to go back down. (no matter how much point-of-sale "incentive discounting" stores do) In principle I think you and I agree, but it will take some wide-spread discipline from modelers or it will kill the hobby for younger up-and-comers who can't afford $40 or higher kits that were $20 five years ago. It bothers me to watch some of these internet "influencers" on youtube channels who are buying up and even hoarding multiple kits in some cases at these new prices. That kind of thing is fueling this inflation.

Good review and interesting story about your first car. I just recently found your channel and subscribed. Going by the name, I was expecting you to have an English or Aussie accent. Now I find out you're in Oklahoma. I live in OKC.

I completed this kit recently, and experienced most of the issues you described. My one in particular was the lack of attachment points for the front bumper, and the low slung rear suspension. Check it out on my channel DMG Scale Models!
