Excellent model and build as always my friend 👍👍. Reminds me of a lot of the 70 and a half to '81 camaros I would see on the streets of New Bedford Massachusetts in the 1980's as a kid. It was always Torq Thrust wheels or Cragar SS on those cars which I still love the look of today. Gonna try to get a set of Torq Thrust wheels for the 2019 challenger I just bought

my brother had a 70 1/2 Camaro he pulled out of a junkyard when he was 15. I was about 4 years old and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. he and our dad built a 383 Chevy engine for it, and it was soon the fastest car in town. they painted it midnite blue and it had a lift off fiberglass hood with an L88 style hood scoop like the one on the Baldwin Motion 70 Camaro. the car was so fast, he got kicked off the track at the local dragstrip for going too fast without a rollcage. it was a great car and alot of fun to ride around in. I was so excited when they released this version with the park lights down below the headlights, I ordered 2 of them. and I had a Baldwin Motion hood come in the mail for it the other day that I ordered from ebay.

Technically the 1970 full bumper, came out first. The split bumper is the mid-year release. Making that, the 70 and a half. Technically, that's just a 70 Camaro. Mine had a turbo fire 350, 325 horse I believe. And an m-21 Rock Crusher manual transmission. Almost that same exact color. But with black rally stripes. And body color rims. With the Chrome Beauty rings of course. Love that car.

Very nice build. Silver body trim looks especially precise, and that's a really nice job on the engine. . I bought this model when it first came out, and I think AMT has since completely re engineered the chassis over the various reissues. When it came out, it was basically a one piece molding with steel wire axles. There were no separate front or rear suspension pieces. I also owned a real third generation Camaro. Not a high performance version, but it was a nice car. The first several years were the best looking models. The styling was spoiled when GM had to deal with government impact bumper requirements. I think the small "bumperettes" were only available on higher performance z 28s, etc. I never saw very many of them. Very nice build. I think I still have my model. Think I will dig it out.

Great review but think this kit is from the mid 90s, when it was molded new not the original AMT 70s camaro kit which had issues with the shape of the headlight surrounds, i have the split bumper version molded in bright orange

I heard that the full bumper Camaro was more popular with the racing crowd because it was lighter. Something to do with the bumper mounting's weight. Anyway, I love the color and the car turned out beautiful, good job.

Tamiya Grey Primer is simply thee best quality I have used so far.Today,I am gonna buy some Plasticote spray Grey primer and give that a go and see if it works as well. Tamiya primer is so expensive for a small can. I hope there is a viable alternative ?

1970 to 73 Camaro could be ordered with the Rally Sport option, it included the split bumpers and round parking lights, it also added hidden wipers and other upgraded trim. It could be added to any Camaro base, SS and Z28. The full bumper is the standard version. Although the new Camaro and Corvette were released in February Chevrolet never called the 70 1/2s. I noticed R2 forgot to take the RS off the steering wheel and the air cleaner top should be chrome

JO, Safest bet is to put it on a flat glass plate in the sink weighted down with something heavy and run VERY hot water on it . Let is set for about 20 minutes and run cold water on it. That should straighten it out! -Doug
