The owner of this car was so informative yet super nice. I think it's wonderful that this rare Chrysler is owned by him as he will display it to the public instead of locked away in a billionaires private collection. He is a wonderful steward for this automobile. Great video as always Lou.

My next-door neighbor was one of Hurst-Campbell's first sales reps, and he had this beast parked right next to my house in Levittown PA in 1969. It was the Hurst display car for Linda Vaughn, Hurst's glamour girl and mascot. This Chrysler had the original rubberized platform that Ms. Linda Vaughn stood on while clutching that giant Hurst Competition Plus shifter with Line-Loc! That weekend, we went to Willow Grove Air Force base in Warminster, PA for the Hurst exhibition, where I saw Ms. Vaughn, watched the "Hemi Under Glass" in a full wheelstand, go most of the way down the airstrip, and finally sat inside the HURST Goldenrod, a Land-Speed Record Car with four Chrysler HEMI engines. Scotty was a great neighbor, and the sixties ruled.

@@loucostabile So were there a couple of these made for Linda Vaughn and the Hurst exhibitions? My neighbor's had the rubberized platform on the trunk lid for her to stand on, but the big shift wasn't on it until the big day, when we saw her and the car going down the airstrip! Keep in mind, he did not own it, but brought it home for the weekend. He was a sales rep, one of the first ever for Hurst-Campbell. I loved living near Philadelphia, we were close to so many great things and we had race tracks everywhere.

Great car! Brings back memories of my dad's '71 300 four door hardtop. He opted for the "TNT" engine with the orange engine paint. It sounded great. He read in the manual that occasional short bursts of full throttle acceleration helped to break in the engine, so, he took us kids out to the interstate on ramp and did just that! It took off! One correction in the video. The headlight doors were electrically operated, not vacuum. I know this because they stopped working. My dad had sticker shock on the dealer price for the electric motor so we took it apart and cleaned the brushes. Worked from then on until he sold it in the '90's.

I had one car similar to this...a 1971 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham. A trim level above this one with no spoiler or hood pins but my car had a custom black-out grill. It was a huge car, measuring 21ft long. My car had a 440 Four Barrel Quadra Jet - super gas toilet The 440 was a balanced engine from an Imperial. Yes awesome indeed with my own expert detail and buff-out, it was stunning! I could easily peel off 20ft of rubber if I wanted to, while cruising at highway speed. The best riding car I ever owned. I'd love to build another one.

Hi Lou, Thanks for getting so many great videos of ultra rare cars for all of us enthusiasts. I can't help but laugh when I read these "experts" commenting on how this or that particular car did not exist. I had a 1969 Grand Prix with a Hurst 4 speed and a 428 that more than a few people told me Pontiac never built! Where do they grow these people? I swear, people couldn't wait to try to tell me that I had been ripped off, Pontiac never put a stick shift in a Grand Prix, and on and on and on. Jim Wangers LOVED my Prix! Said that he had one almost identical in 69! But, those "experts". They probably would tell Mr Wangers that HE doesn't know what he's talking about! Anyway, great job, and thank you again for sharing your videos. P.S. That Hurst shifter in this car is super cool. I never saw one like it. (OK, "experts" that's your cue to tell me that Hurst didn't make it!) ✌️ Lou. Johnny J

That is different from the 5 that I've seen, yes real '70 300H convertibles, documented out of the 505 built combined cars. Those cars did not have the large H on the quarter, and all of them were column shift! None of those had factory Cragars on it either, but hub caps or steel road wheels with trim rings. They were all painted the same way as this featured car is, same glass hood with rotary locks, same glass deck lid with spoiler, U code TNT mill, heavy duty goodies, etc. I had read many moons ago in a Chrysler enthusiast magazine that supposedly, 1 of the reasons the 300 Hurst editions as a whole never got into any serious production was that the corporate brass had already decided that the entire 300 line would be scrapped mid '71 in favor of concentrating on volume cars like the NewPort and the upcoming New Yorker Brougham. $ had already shifted away from the 300 program and left Hurst holding the bag. According to that article, which I wish I could find, a special center console was supposed to house the shifter, a first in a C body since 1968, as well as a different instrument cluster that included all gauges including a factory tach. It never happened. Very neat to see this piece of Mopar history!!!

@ Lou, I've always wanted a real '70 300H for my collection, but have never found 1 that wasn't beyond saving. From what I've seen, not only was typical C body rust was an issue, ( unibody chassis included) but also the fiberglass components were likely to warp or crack, making the most unique parts of the package difficult to restore w/o spending big $. So kudos to all of the people that had kept this rare car in as good of shape as it is! Adam is damned jealous! LOL

Great car! Great review! We used to have a Town and Country wagon from ~1972 and it had the 440 in it. That thing was pretty damn fast back in the day! My Father used to crack me up when he'd hit the cruise control resume button from red lights. Yeah, modern cruise controls don't allow that, but it was pretty fun, especially when I was just a little kid.

The , 70 Hurst model with the TNT 440. But for it to be a convertible makes this rolling Billboard a collector dream. Even though it was never produced. I am sure this car runs and drives like a land yacht. As we would call them in the late 60's and early 70's. My friends Mom had a dark green with a black top and a 383 engine two door. We would take it out on the weekend and run the piss out of it! Hole shots and brake torque them skinny tires TO DEATH! BUT TO SEE THIS CAR IN the Hurst model that would have been something to drive. 440 and a four barrel. Shawn

You did an Epic Fail when you did not mention the left and right vent levers for fresh air as well as ac. Try to find this feature on other cars. It can be done but is it easy? My 70' 300 4 door has a option for a AM/FM 8-TRACK and yes it works but i need an antenna cable. Got one handy, ha ha. But seriously thank you for all of your great reporting work.

Lou, Happy Thanksgiving. Also, you can call me Vin or Vinnie. The Hurst is one of two. If that doesn't add to story, nothing else will !! Carlise is 60's and 70's muscle...... Hershey encompasses anything. You never know what you'll run into in the biggest antique flea market anywhere that runs for three days The show is on Saturday. People around the world come. A nice selection of brass and nickle era cars, that don't show up at car meets anymore. Almost everyone who knew these cars from their youth are gone. The people who show these cars are keeping history going. Many times you have family members carrying on traditions I think there are a lots stories to be told. Been to both. You know what you like...just a thought

I was there at the show last year. My friends literally drug me away from the MOPARS, I was drooling over those so bad. I've owned many Mopars; 62 300-H long ram (bought in 86 for $1,500 not running, mild resto and sold for 8K running in 88) 1- 66 1/2 Charger w/Special Order 383 4X2 and 4 speed (was stolen, never recovered), 1- 67 Charger 440 4 speed (both were lightweights) totaled at the mall by a drunk driver while watching a movie, 73 340 Duster 4 speed (restored, then arson), 75 Duster w/Power Pak-6 (sold it), 75 Tradesman Maxi Extended "shagging wagon" (was in the movie The Van paid a grand, fixed it and sold it for 8K), 77 Cordoba Brougham w/650rwhp 444 stroker built it as a total sleeper, even the 15x9.5 rims had the Cordoba hubcaps held on by a threaded rod (stolen, recovered, rebuilt then totaled by getting T-boned by a drunk driver) 86 Omni GLH-S (ex-wife got that). NOW, the 3 Mopars that I've ALWAYS wanted but could never get a hold of were: That 70 300 HURST, another 70 model - the Sport Fury GT w/440 and a 58 Fury w/392 dual quad Hemi. Now how many guys would EVER pass up an opportunity to own Christine for themselves.

Right, I don't know Lou, if this 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst edition promotional car is really a one of one car as there were two of these same cars featured on an episode of the national tv show Counting Cars, which featured in a segment, both a hardtop and a convertible version of this car that the owner was all to proud to show and tell all about, yet the older owner wasn't anywhere close to interested in selling to the Count Cool Rider?...(LoL)...Danny, or anyone for that matter, unless those two 300 Hurst cars from Counting Cars were cloned recreations? Or possibly there are 1969 300 Hurst 300 version's?...8)

Deranged Hermit maybe those other cars were replicas? Counting cars is not exactly the restoration authority on numbers matching documented cars. Beware of what you see on TV. This gentleman has all the proper and correct manufacturing data to prove his car is 1 of 1. I didn't see anything but promises on Counting cars.

That's a very new Washington plate on the car, within the past year or so. I'm gonna be looking for that one driving around here in the Seattle area. (Probably not, huh?)

An oar-some boat/car... I have seen one of these and just standing next to it was fabulous. I had a really good look around it too. But what I'D like to see is a 1959 Buick station wagon. You just don't seem to see them anymore..(well I don't anyway.) Thanks !

Boy, that was a quick reply, lol. I have 2 '66 Chryslers, well, kinda, my Newport i had in high school rusted pretty bad, my brother pulled the motor and repainted it Chyrsler blue and put it in a '46 IH Farmall "M" tractor, which is repainted IH red. motor has 89,000 when it was switched. My other '66 is a Newport TownSedan,3on the tree manual, origal, never repainted, ordered w/o a radio-no antenna on rf fender, has a clock, rear window defrost, all original paperwork from '66, jiffy jet washer tag,Outboard motor brochure,Wall temp heater brochure, window sticker.

This Car was Born: May 5th. Hahaha,Thanks Again: and if you're ever wondering what the Day and Month is Mr. Costabile (when reviewing a Mopar) : Just glance to the 2nd column past the 3-5 or 6 number (those are just sequence numbers) and you should see 3 digits (occasionally you will see a letter first telling you that the car was put together earlier last year like the 70 R/T Charger in the previous video...) Hahaha,Thanks Again.

The 440 Friends Super Bee Plymouth car I rode in one day, was where I learn or did my first "Sincere prayer". Please God, slow this things down, as I looked at the speed-o needle ticking off the 150 MPH point.. True story! I honestly did, I was scared!
