    Thank you for being so responsive to the comments it really means a lot to the channels audience 👍🏼 i’ll be watching daily for updates, A 69 road runner is my dream car 🤩 two of my neighbors on my block in the 70s and 80s had 69 road runner‘s, one was black and one was a bronze brown color they both had slot mags with white letter tires ... I just wish I had a chance to buy will have them back then but I was just a kid

    That car is 1 of 421 1969 Roadrunner hardtops equipped with the 425 horsepower and 490 ft lbs torque 426 Hemi. It's also 1 of 187 equipped with the torqueflite automatic. I know many people are saying this but I'm saying this too. Please send this very unique mopar engine up to Montreal Canada to Nick's Garage who has well over 40 years of experience working on these engines. He's also a fellow youtuber, so he'll document rebuilding this engine and putting it on the dyno to break it in and see how much actual horsepower it's pumping out. Once again, send that Hemi engine to Nicks Garage to work his magic making that engine run again

    I pulled my 440 out of my 70 GTX by myself and put it back in. But I did need help to get the hood off. I don’t think I could of done the Hemi by myself. That was definitely a team effort. Good luck.

    This is a great video series you have going - it reminds me of really good memories. I'm sure you'll give careful thought about what to replace and what to clean up, and even what not to touch. My only suggestion is to use true 426 Hemi music for you video... you know, like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Iron Butterfly, Canned Heat, The Guess Who, etc. Real classic rock or even country from the true Hemi muscle-car days, instead of the Weenie-Mobile hip-hop music of today.

    I have been building a 426 Hemi. Get out the wallet if you want it done right! I'm still in denial that air cleaners are more expensive than crankshafts. But you gotta do what you gotta do. :D At least in your situation everything there is in great condition. I personally would not paint this car. Build it and enjoy it first.

  • @mysterycomment1553
    @mysterycomment15533 жыл бұрын

    Being a survivor car be careful. Don’t paint or clean stuff up the same way as a car being restored. If you touch stuff up it will just take away from the survivor factor. Don’t paint the motor. Should be able to break it loose and clean up the cylinders. It won’t be a perfect fresh motor but it will be good enough and preserve the survivor factor.

  • @jppagetoo

    @jppagetoo

    3 жыл бұрын

    I am all for keeping survivors original as possible. But... If there was water in the bottom end of that engine it will need some major work, even if it wasn't turned over. A 426 original matching numbers engine... just fix it right. If that means losing some orginal patina, so be it. The rest of the body is amazing for a '69 in the midwest. Good car! I will follow as it is being fixed up and made to run.

  • @mysterycomment1553

    @@jppagetoo I have fixed countless motors with water in them. It’s more then doable. As long as there was oil in the block it doesn’t mean it will be completely rusty even. But who knows. The thing could be unreal corroded inside or it might not. Just a example I had a 390 in a f150 running that was literally rusty/seized. Would have been a boat anchor to most. Cleaned up the whole motor, valve train cleaned up good enough, Cylinders cleaned up nice, put new rings, etc and fired right up. Just so you know if he was to drop off that motor at any shop it would be a minimum $15,000 Bill just because it’s a hemi or just some random shop will probably wreck it or run the risk of the numbers matching motor going missing. People are crooks; never trust anyone with a hemi. I’d never drop off a complete hemi to anyone these days. Take the block in to get done and bring it home, take the heads after and bring them home etc. Would be cool if he does a tear down video so we can see it taken apart.

    @@mysterycomment1553 I have no doubt that it will run again. It may not even be siezed. But, it's been 30 years since oil went through the journals to the crank. Moisture will have crept into all the mains and rod bearings. The bottom end will be rusted. But, it's not my engine, so they will do what they think is best. I agree with your not wanting it to go someplace they don't trust 100%.
