@rustynutsgarage4099 YUP, I know that feeling too, so food for thought. IF either of the other ones runs halfway decent, & your willing to do a cam anyway, would it possibly make more sense to say just do a top end service on one of them, vs going through all the headache of pulling this one out of the wagon? We both also know how valuable your time is, so would you be time ahead by a mild refresh of another? Just something to consider, as that doesn't cost money at all. Good luck with your mission, if you so choose to accept it (haha)!

This wagon is very rare. Not too many of those came with a big block. They usually were a six cylinder or a 302 2 barrel V8. For how rare it is, you really gotta leave its drivetrain alone that way it’s numbers matching. What your sons Ford truck needs is a Godzilla 7.3 crate motor backed by a 6 speed manual and a very loud exhaust. His truck with almost 500 horsepower, it’s gonna be a real monster

Shortly before my dad bought his F-100, his mother bought a new '69 LTD Brougham 4 dr hardtop with the "K" code 429 2V engine. I loved that car. So much so, that decades later I found an always-garaged Arizona kept 1969 LTD Country Squire wagon - like yours - with the "N" code 429 4V engine. I still have it, although I should give it more exercise than I do. I've always loved the 429 and 460 big Fords from that era!

Then one season I got to drive a 429 with a hydraulic dump bed. It was painted in dark company green. What an absolute animal. Quiet and smooth too. Never spilled my coffee. This was our family wagon growing up as 1 0f 8 going to church family vacations Dad bought it off the show room floor with the 429 . this code was a n and putting the hammer down it would scream up to 60 in first gear , second would kick in and up to 120 mph before third would shift in that is when the boat would come out in the wagon and to go faster was way to dangerous . All that wagon needs is a good pressure washing and interior detail shampooing and you are 1/2 way there to having an awesome car show and swap meet cruiser! Seriously, I know its none of my business, but removing the powertrain from the wagon to install it onto a truck would be a crime. If you are not interested in the wagon then sell it and buy junior a 347 stroker crate engine. That way you won't get embarrassed when that 429 with a cam powered truck barely manages to pull away from a 16 second Chevy Cavalier at the track.😂😂😂 I will be following your channel to see the wagon progress, subscribed🤠👍

My Father purchased a 10000 mile 68 Country Squire Ford wagon with the 390 in it in late 69. It was border line totaled as it had been tipped over in a ditch by its drunk original owner. The roof was smashed in (not severely) and there was a bit of fender damage. My Father got a super deal on it and spent weeks jacking the roof back up close to shape and then slapping on the bondo. When it was all done, it looked great. We drove the $hit out of that car. Family vacations heavily loaded down with camping gear, mini bikes, etc. Sold it with over 200000 miles on it 10 years later. It still ran like a Swiss watch too. What a great car!

We had a 1971 Ford Country Squire wagon. Us kids thought, it was cool with the seats, we could pull up in the back. They faced eachother on the 1971, if I recall? At a glance, it looked like your 1969. Don't know what engine it had. Maybe a 351C? It was a V8, but most wagons had those. I remember Dad & Mom complaining about it, & it always being in the shop, so they only kept it 2 years. It broke down, when we were on vaction in the middle of no where. There no cell phones back then to call a wrecker or other help. Dad was able to flag some guys down in a pick up, using some sort of Masonic gesture. It was a secret gesture, so Dad had us turn our backs, so we couldn't see it. Anyhow, Masons were more common then, so the guys in the pick up who were also Masons not only stopped, they went to the trouble of towing us to the next town with their truck with ropes or chains, even though it was 20 miles away. Dad, Mom, my 5 siblings & our housekeeper (9 people in all) were all piled into that Wagon with a luggage carrier on top. It could have been nightmare, but those righteous men in the pick up, helped us. I haven't thought of that breakdown in years, until just now. No wonder Dad got rid of the 1971 Country Squire & replaced it with a Datsun 610 in 1973. We couldn't all fit into it of course, but we didn't vaction often anyway, as Dad was self employed. I don't know, what all went wrong with it, but I remember, that breakdowns became fairly prevalent in American cars, even before the Malaise era kicked in.
