Cragar SS mags...I remember in the early 70's when those were all the rage...I could never afford them as a teenager, we used to run black steel rims and just put the chrome lug nuts and wheel rim on them...still looked pretty sharp but I always wanted the Cragar SS wheels.

Is it an original , built by Hurst Corporation ? There's NOTHING like the sound of a TRUE 426 HEMI I'm a former Chy/Ply dealer & racer . And used to drive new Factory F/X cars & many street & race Hemis. They were "off the meter" INSANE !!! Thanks for posting !

@@47485ksc I've owned both, a 1968 Dodge Dart and a 1993 MAZDA RX7. There is no comparison of the two. The Dart was nice, basic, transportation. The RX7 was a gorgeous sports car that handled like a dream and was a blast to drive.

Looks almost original, with the little radiator and all, except for the big front tires. These things were meant for the strip and didn't have enough radiator for more than a few minutes runtime. Never saw one as clean as this, they were race cars not show cars. Time has made these car idols.

Another thing that I have always wondered, why when someone says import or rice they only think of inline 4 and 6 cylinders? Toyota makes killer v8's also. Here's something to think about, the 1uzfe which is a Toyota v8, came out in the 80's. There is a 10 year difference between that motor and a LS1 but the 1uzfe had everything the LS1 had 10 years earlier. 6-bolt mains with over-square config, composite block made from aluminum alloy, quad camshafts, and a tock C/R of 10:1. Ahead of its time.

Out of all the fastest times on the Nordschleife, there are 22 "MURICAN cars and 132 "ricers". 132 versus 22, big difference. The ZR1 beat the GTR by 0.052 seconds despite weighing 485lbs less and having over 280hp more than the GTR. If you watch the video the GTR destroys the ZR1 through the corners but the last huge straightaway the ZR1 pulled away by a nose even though it had such a big advantage lol I mean the GTR even has back seats and cost almost $20,000 less. Americans are just ignorant.

Are you forgetting the Lexus LFA? That car is also amazing. Of course a Honda Civic is not on there, it is a cheap economy car made for people transportation. The AWD is not the only thing that makes the GTR launch so fast, the transmission is a mechanical marvel.

Yes, it was built to be a drag car and it does that very well but there are imports out there that are just as fast and there are also euro's out there that are just as fast. Look up 6 sec corolla. There is a 1985 Toyota corolla that run's constant 6's at around 205MPH.

Yes the LFA is fast/nice, but $400k+, and that base model was down at 7.38sec. The GTR trans is a nice piece, would be nicer if it held up to the launch mode(had to change it after the 1st yr run because of 2 many failures). 0-60 is ALL about traction. Even ur LFA 550hp/3300 like a vette, only does 0-60 in 3.6. The trans. does help with 1/4 mile ets, makes up 4 the added weight of awd, probably saves .3 sec over a manual. An awd car on street tires has the same traction of a rwd car w/ slicks.

Lovely car. :-) Does it have the original gear reduction starter? Wish I had heard it crank over - I love that sound. Do you know what color it was originally? Too bad it doesn't sport original paint and dog dish hub caps, but I know it would never hook up that way. It's got to be frightening to drive in any event.

It was grey and black primer originally right from factory hurst who did the mods on it like a black glass front end and whatever else they put on it these and the barracudas they done were the best factory muscle cars ever in my opinion

Is that an original '68 Hemi Dart, or is it a period correct clone? Either way it's totally f'ing sick! I'm surprised you have no cage at all in that monster! I used to have a '69 Dodge Dart GTS 383 and I had to sell it during my divorce from my 1st wife... I miss that car! But I got a great wife that wants me to find another one! I'd love to find a decent '69 that I can cut up, tub it out and cram a 528 Hemi crate motor into it! It wouldn't be original, but my own custom Pro-Street Hemi-Dart!!!

The car is 12 years old, were did you get 45 years old? Do you even look at what you type and quite calling it a Datsun, that was a company bought out by Nissan in the early 70's. I don't call Chrysler a AMC.

The new viper t/a will beat the old ACR record and the next will beat that. I don't see a Honda civic, on there anywhere, a srt4 neon kills it. The GTR is japans only supercar avail., yes it is good, All wheel drive will always get you off a corner faster... but the extra weight kills you everywhere else, over 60mph acceleration/braking/etc. Only euro car that matches it is the GT2 prosche that costs 2.5times more. Put the srt8 jeep AWD in a viper and you'll beat the Veyron/GTR 0-60.

He would be luckier if it was a Ford Fairlane 428

I hope your buddy put a really good aluminum radiator in it by now. Chrysler made really bad radiators back in the day. They would split just idling. And tell him to put a 6-speed in it. Then it will be complete.

jeff jonila the only difference is the shifter. The auto got a slightly better converter. They are awesome cars but they need updated. A Jericho trans would do wonders in that car.

as far as value goes it doesnt help changing the trans. as far as drag racing goes (which these cars were made for) a 6 speed is no good. while i do agree the stock trans may not be the best, most of them are prob destroyed that were used for serious dragging. if it was street legal and gas economy is an issue a 6 speed may suffice but then again so would a different car.
