1966 Mustang Interior Restoration Pt 2 - Reupholstering the front and rear seats - In this episode I complete the interior restoration. It was an unexpected level of challenging but was able to get it done. I also didn't expect it to be that dirty! I used Distinctive Industries covers sourced from CJ Pony parts and seat padding from National Parts Depot. If you missed it, go back and start with the tear down episode in Pt 1: • 1966 Mustang Interior ...

I did the upholstery on my ‘65 convertible a couple of years ago. I wish I had known about using a flashlight under the foam cushion to help find the spring. Nice hack. I would recommend parking the car outside with the top down for several hours some afternoon. The heat and sunlight will do wonders getting rid of the wrinkles in the vinyl. Good luck.

Thanks for watching! You are right about out in the sun. Front and back seats are perfect and wrinkle free now. You can see in the thumbnail what the front seats look like after sometime in the sun.

Agreed, it was a challenge. Not a ton of instruction available either. I know now why folks charge so much to do it.

Don't want to sound critical, I appreciate your channel and putting your work out for the world to see. My question is ... are you ok with all the wrinkles in both the front and back? Maybe the wrinkles work themselves out over time? Let me know.

Thanks for the question, I was worried about that also. The wrinkles have already worked themselves out. Heat and usage has done that over time. I am really happy with the way it turn out. Still have to get those seat heaters wired!

Nice vid!!! Where did you get the quarter interior panel with speaker inserts from? I have a convertible as well and would like to add speakers to the rear too. Thanks

I cut those myself. Unfortunately, into the original panels, but there really isn't another place for the.

Hey so I noticed on the back seat you had installed the seat heaters tacky side towards the vinyl. Then on the fronts you installed it tacky side towards the foam. Did that make a difference in the end or do they seam to heat evenly? Just wondering if there is a front and back to those if i ever get around to installing something like that.

Great question! Unfortunately, I still haven't wired them. When I do and post a video, I will be sure to answer this question.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Regarding the listing wires on both sides of the rear bench hump, when you reassemble do you recommend hog ringing those listing wires first? Or do you recommend fitting the fabric and hog ringing a few exterior sections and reaching up and through the center and going through the seat bottom?

Thanks! I did the listing wires first, then tracked around the outside. Seats look perfect now. No wrinkles or issues.

It was the standard interior kit from CJ. It was $1200, if I remember correctly.
