The Ford F-Series is a series of trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford. In production since 1948, the F-Series is a range of light trucks marketed as full-size pickup trucks, slotted above the compact Ford Ranger in the Ford truck model range. Since 1999, the F-Series also includes the heavier-duty Super Duty series, which includes pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. As of current production, the Ford F-Series includes the F-150 pickup, F-250 through F-450 Super Duty pickups, F-450/550 Super Duty chassis cabs, and F-650/750 Super Duty Class 6-8 trucks. The most popular version of the F-Series is the F-150, now in its fourteenth generation.
The best-selling pickup truck in the United States since 1977 (the highest-selling vehicle overall since 1981);[1][2] the F-Series is also the best-selling vehicle in Canada.[3] As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion in annual revenue for Ford.[4] At various times, Ford has marketed the F-Series across all three of its divisions in North America. From 1948 to 1968, Mercury marketed the F-Series as the M-Series (in Canada); during the 2000s, Lincoln sold the F-150 as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT. The F-series platform has underpinned several sport utility vehicles, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
As of current production, the Ford F-Series is manufactured by Ford in four facilities in the United States.
The fourth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from October 1960 to August 1966. Sleeker and wider than its predecessor, the new F-Series introduced several firsts to the truck line. In Canada, the F-Series continued to be distributed by Mercury dealers as the M-Series.
Along with the traditional separate Flareside beds, Ford introduced unibody trucks. These were originally named as the "integrated pickup" and consisted of the cab and the bed into one continuous piece, with no gap between them.[3] The design required fewer stampings, such as the back of the cab served as the leading edge of the bed, less complicated assembly, such as the single-wall bed sides were spot-welded directly to the door sills, and the body had a less complicated path through the assembly plant's paint shop.[3] This achieved cost savings in the manufacture of the truck, but the one-piece cab and bed body was still mounted to a traditional ladder frame chassis.[3] Only two-wheel-drive F-100 and F-250 models used this one-piece construction--four-wheel-drive models and all F-350s, as well as all models with Flareside beds, continued to use separate cabs and beds. Styleside beds were carried over from the 1957-60 models.
1962-1964
Due to poor market reception, and rumors that overloading caused the doors to jam shut, the unibody trucks were dropped midway through the 1963 model year. The 1963-64 models have the turn signals in the grill. 1964 models received an all-new Styleside bed with more modern styling.
In October 1964, the 1965 F-Series introduced an all-new frame, which would be used on the F-Series through 1979. The body itself remained largely unchanged, but on 1965 and 1966 models the turn signals are above the headlights. Replacing the rudimentary straight-axle in the front was all-new independent "Twin I-Beam" suspension with coil springs on two-wheel-drive trucks.[4] The 1965 and 1966 F-Series trucks are distinguished with a "TWIN I-BEAM" emblem on the front fender. A 4-door crew cab was also introduced on F-250 and F-350 models.
The 240 cu in (3.9 L) and 300 cu in (4.9 L) straight six was introduced. With the introduction of the 208 hp (155 kW; 211 PS) 352 cu in (5.8 L) FE V8, output surpassed 200 hp in the F-Series for the first time.
F-100 (F10, F14): 1/2 ton (4,000-5,000 GVWR max)
F-100 (F11, F18, F19)(4×4): 1/2 ton (4,000-5,600 GVWR max)
F-250 (F25): 3/4 ton (7,400 GVWR max)
F-250 (F26)(4×4): 3/4 ton (4,900 GVWR max)
F-350 (F35): 1 ton (9,800 GVWR max)
A Camper Special was available featuring heavier-duty components to accommodate the slide in campers that were becoming increasingly popular during this time.
For 1965, the Ranger name first appeared as a styling package for the F-Series pickup trucks. The interior featured bucket seats and a curtain over the gas tank which was behind the seats in the cab

The chrome bumpers on these old trucks always makes me chuckle. Probably fewer than 1 in 100 of these trucks were sold with chrome bumpers. These were working vehicles. Chrome was a premium. I don't think I ever saw a pickup with chrome bumpers until the 80s.

About the only thing I dislike about these kits is the moulded on side trims which mean you're pretty stuck with the chrome options.
My eldest daughter loves this video, because of the blue and white paint scheme you gave it. I build the Moebius ‘71 Ranger XLT for her, in the same two tone, the same way you did yours. I converted it into a ‘67 by using the ‘67 Moebius kit and using the AMT ‘78 Ford Firestone truck, I converted it into a F-250 Highboy. I had a happy mistake with this truck. I wanted a blue and white interior and wasn’t sure how I was going to do the blue. When I did the blue, I got enough overspray into the cab to turn it blue, to match the rest of the blue, on my truck.

Oh yeah - '67 through '72 Chevy & GMC pickups - long-bed, short bed, step-side, smooth side, 4x4, 2WD, bone stock, street machine, 6-banger, "Mouse" or "Rat" V8s, panel delivery,Suburban.... Lots of possibilities to kit ala Mobius Fords or RM Chevys = multi-versions from relatively few major toolings. Yes, please!

Oh Yea, My dad’s was red and white with a 352 4bbl and a three speed on the column. I was 5 when he bought it. Kept it till 1973 when he got the F-100 Ranger XLT. I loved those trucks.
I am going to have to try a Moebius Kit. This is a beautiful finished piece of work!

Interesting suggestion. I wonder if RMC sales of 1950 F-1 pickup were so poor that some '48 -'52 versions "died on the vine?" Just consider the success the venerable '53 from AMT has had - despite having some quirky "features, like door panel molding inside of cab shell....

I owned an actual 66 ford.....what a money pit....loved it. Suicide brake cylinder no power steering...was a blast to drive. Had some of the best body lines on a truck ever.

All sky blue would be beautiful as well as what I have in mind for a project truck idea for the 65-66 ford trucks id do red on top dark and black on the bottom and carry the theme into the truck door panels and the dash would be sweet as well great model examples by moebius again though and great build sir

I can't believe what a steady and accurate hand you have wielding that Sharpie...my pens always seem to sputter and leave gaps...my hand can't stay on those trim lines for s**t.
My father-in-law had this exact truck. Well, there was one difference. It wasn’t four-wheel-drive. I’ve had a hard time finding the 1966 Ford pick up like this that is not four-wheel-drive. I can find the 1965 but of course the grills are different. I guess I will buy the 1966 Ford four-wheel-drive truck and just build it as a 2 Wheel Dr.

Chris; have watched your builds since day one. Learned lots, and lots of products from you, but I'll faint dead if you ever scraped or sanded off seams and flash from parts. great work anyway, I'll be begging for more.
Moebius makes a nice truck. We need a 60's Dodge, please.
Maaan doing everything in my power now to keep from pulling out the credit card and ordering this kit. I've never a Mobius kit- everything they say about them is true. Why can't every kit go together so easily and line up so nicely? LOL other Model companies take note- this is what we want more of-clear concise instructions, color callouts, crisp rich details, 300 extra optional parts, and zero fit issues... Thx for the build up Chis! :)

I was using a chuck in my drill l cobbled together with washers & nuts, but now l use the socket method thanks to Chris, l couldn't believe l didn't think of that.

I'm just little annoyed with myself that for all these years I have been doing it by hand and not 1 time did I stop and think how I could save myself some of that work. Some small individual items on their own tree: I often glue trees together: easier to paint lots of small parts the same color at the same time.
It would be awesome if Moebius tooled the F100 unibody that saw production between 1961 and 63.

Looks great man! My dad gave me his 64 F250 back in 1993 when I was in high school. It had a 223 straight six and a three on the tree.

I bought the first release of that 67 GTX in 1995 - one of the nicest kits I ever built!

Never bought a Mobius kit yet, almost bought the Chrysler 300 kit but it is expensive here in the UK. Great build, the detail and moulding on this Mobius kit looks great.

I love the Moebius kits! So many extras included. My only issue is be careful not to make your paint too thick. I find it does make things a bit more difficult for assembly. Other than that, I will continue to buy them. I hope they come out with other kits.

The silver metallic sharpie is the marker i said it was actually designed for marking on audio and home burnt dvd type discs as it will not scratch the label, coating under it or the disc itself and nothing comes in contact with the cd player like in the vehicle that front insert slot style..

Perfect. I don't know why the kits come with the tyres they're offered with, maybe typical of a restored truck I guess.

That blue's a great color. Reminds me of the Skyline blue GM used on the square bodies. Nice job. Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Awesome truck! Got that sixties Ford stance that says, coming thru boys!
Just use the wheel backs from like the mid 80's ertyl 66 Chevy nova ss and lay them down flat like body lifts and put 4 under the bed and 4 under the cab and some sort of them similar to the core support and it would raise the body up on the truck...
Great looking build Chris, that color combo makes the whole truck pop. I have the 71' long wheel base that I'll be doing in a color combo close to that. Mine will have a confederate flag on the roof, I'm doing it like the 1:1 I had back in the mid 80's. Keep the builds coming, always enjoy seeing what other people are building.
