1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 396 for sale at Volo Auto Museum (V19054)

This is a genuine Super Sport designated right in the vin #. It has it's original #s matching big block 396 motor. It's a factory 4-speed car too.
EXTERIOR: Exceptionally straight, clean original body. They are long panels on this car and looking down each side it is straight. The panels fit real square and flush too. Completely repainted. It has a very glossy finish. I'm standing 4 feet from the car and it looks perfect. Sure when I get up close I can find some nicks touched up. It is smooth all along the bottom, no bubbles. No vinyl top. The chrome and trim on the car is a combination of replaced and good original. Bumpers were rechromed. Bowtie mirrors, stainless moldings and emblems were replaced. The grill, bumper guards and door handles are good original. The chrome strip down the middle of the hood does he have some pitting. The moldings down the sides look original but overall straight and shiny. The lenses look real good. Jambs are painted glossy, weatherstrips were replaced. The rubber around the vent windows is cracking. It has 15 inch rally wheels with new trim and spinners on the center caps.
INTERIOR: It has factory bucket seats with a center console for a 4-speed. Seats have been reupholstered and the door panels have been replaced. The carpet has been replaced. I'm sitting in the car, the dash area in front of me is good original. Not beat up or broken, just typical age. It has a factory tachometer in the dash and gauge cluster under the dash. The 4-speed on the floor is the correct one with the chrome ball and reverse lockout. It has a modern stereo and 6x9 speakers in the rear deck.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin # matching 396-325 hp motor. The codes, casting and dates line up too. It has a performance rebuild. Runs perfect. Has a great sounding idle, very clean response with no coughing. It has a performance cam, performance valvetrain, aluminum high rise Edelbrock intake, a big chrome plated dual feed Holley carb with electric choke, HEI ignition system and long tube ceramic coated headers. The valve covers look like their stock but they're taller. That tells me there's probably some custom valvetrain underneath them. It has a new power brake conversion. The booster is cadmium plated, it's a CPP master cylinder. It also features power steering. There is a polished aluminum overflow bottle off the radiator, a custom made fan shroud and an aluminum water pump. Overall the motor compartment is very presentable, I wouldn't say show quality. It is very proper and orderly.

I have owned two 1966 Impalas. the 65 and 66 were both beautiful body styles, my uncle had a 1965 super sport, 396 4 speed, I was 14 years old, we went to Daytona beach with my cousins, one of the best times in my life, thanks for showing this beautiful impala and bringing back fond memories.

I've owned 4 66's since high school and at 62 they still have a place in my heart. This one is awesome. All I'd do is ad a gauge package.

Hi Jay. This is a very nice , and already sold ! , example of a classic design of the '60's. I'm still " tuning in " to American car culture of the '50's and '60's and viewing them on your site is by far and away the best education ! There' s more to Americana of this era than Mustangs and Corvette's , not forget the GTO. You explain the different nuances to every variant . I still have a lot to learn. So unfortunately you'll have to put up with my sometimes amusing comments and likewise irritating comments. ( bet you gave this away! ) It's unfortunate that a very small number of viewers think it unfair that the cars are sold before we see them. I take the view that we should be grateful that you' ve taken the trouble to video these cars. Let's be frank , your in business to make money, your not a free car show ! Thanks Jay.

I felt compelled to comment. I am sorry someone got their panties in a bunch over the fact that this car had sold prior to the broadcasting of the video. I trust Volo to present outstanding cars. Not to be making excuses for everything buuut....For the privacy of the new owner, we do not feel it is our place to keep what they paid on the site after its theirs. It is not even unheard of that customer's request the entire vehicle removed from the site after purchase.

This car is already sold but I do see that our shop had a service receipt for fixing the taillights.
This one didn't last as you can see why.

Videos are usually scheduled in advance & sometimes a vehicle may be sold or have a deposit before the video is released. Otherwise some days we may release 12 videos in a single day which also isn't good.

Sorry to see you go but KZread is not our primary platform. If you want the earliest look at our inventory, our own direct website is the best place to watch. We are even selling some cars before they get pictures or videos from our Incoming Inventory page on our site. There is a 2009 Jagquar on there that never got a video & did not have a description written that has already been sold. Just how it goes sometimes.
