1965 Porsche 356C - One Take
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is a fully restored 1965 Porsche 356C, the final year of the 356. A father/son project, it features a punched-out 1780cc engine, mild outlaw body work, and a rally-inspired interior with fresh hides and rare vintage Tag Heuer rally clocks. Though it's incredibly slow, Matt's first drive ever in a 356 reveals that you can easily feel Porsche's entire lineage and where the modern 911 came from when driving one of these old classics.

Well done. Love to see someone who like me, knows how to raise our next gen offspring properly. Nice job dad!
Well this was cool to wake up to. ☕️Thanks to Matt for the opportunity! If you watch these and think he seems like a nice dude, he's nicer than whatever you imagined. Fun fact, it pissed rain on the way home from the shoot and we hadn't put the wipers back on the car yet. FUN.

Beautiful car Devin! Awesome you hooked up. Matt seems really cool. A sorted 356 is really just a dream to drive and yours looks awesome and sounds really good too. The later cars are more deep and rumbley. The stop watches are the bomb. How fun would that be to use them in a time-distance rally! Thanks for the ride! f

Didn't even notice the windows were open, since you were travelling at such low speeds until you went to whistle mode haha. Great car, great video

Sounds like a tea kettle after the window went up. The first time windows down was actually better. xD All the cars in the background look amazing, can't wait to see them.

it is true. most 912 only have 90hp. But expensive. cheapest I found after a quick search is €19500, most expensive one is €79000 granted it only has 2800 km on the clock, but yes ridiculous.

he's attractive and stuff, and also cool.
Easily one of the most beautiful cars of all time. Instant like for sure.
I could look at that hood-line all day! Nothing like actually being able to see the front of a car as you motor through the bends. Very entertaining. Thanks guys!
Keep this guy on the show! Funny, interesting, communicative, you make a good pair!
Saw one of these rolling around where I live in rural New Hampshire. The guy drove it all the way down from quebec city! Fantastic!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. The car, the conversation… having the right guest makes all the difference

LMAO the part where he says "When you're driving this everyone lets you in." So f**in true. If I saw this car driving I'd act like a secret service agent to it 🤣
Just pure beauty ❤️ Thanks for sharing, made me smile the whole way through!
That paint is marvelous. Interior color is great too, wow!
love the video, the vibe and when the owner said "i got back in my miata and was like" 😂😂
might not be the fastest but certainly one of the coolest cars you've had on one take imo
I'm a Beetle owner... They're great to work on and the horribleness is a charm. I'm trying to tighten up the steering and suspension though
Matt and Devin, Nice video and beautiful car! I know by modern standards they can feel a bit slow, but in the right set of roads, they are like nothing else. The trick (as you were doing) is to get close to red-line at every shift. With only four gears, it sets you up in the power band for the next gear. We take ours on lots of P-car runs and can keep up pretty well. It is a very different experience and you aren't in it just for speed and g-force, it is about connecting an developing a relationship. It makes you work a bit for what you want - like any quality relationship. It is still a P-car - reliable, easy to maintain, delivers the goods, and looks amazing. It is a car you feel honored to drive - totally what I got from your drive. Franny
This guy seems chill, I like his car. Good video.
Finally, a owner telling Matt to keep the revs higher. More Honda guys need to do this
That car is absolutely beautiful. Well done.
3:20 "theyll hear uth better" lmaoo matt always got me dying
I saw this car in the background at the end of your MR2 one-take, and I was *SO HOPING* that it was there for you to review it!!! YAY!!!!
This is hilarious! It's looking like the dudes are riding on a loveseat! LMAO!!!

ROTFLMAO!!!
It’s a pity Matt has no love for the VW Beetle, or as all Americans say; “VW Bug”. A well sorted Beetle, with a quality aircooled stroker motor & upgraded VW driveline may not ever reach the dizzying heights of a 993 RSR, but it sure as Hell will smoke the shit outta a stock (ish) 356 build like this! VW Beetles have been legendary performers at Californian dragstrips for decades, and many German Superbugs built with VW & VW based aftermarket components, are capable of lapping Nordschleife in times that a lot of 911 Carrera drivers can only aspire to replicate. Don’t get me wrong though, I love this build, which is why I’m watching it. Just don’t rag on Beetles until you’ve driven a truly fast one.
Brings back my childhood playing Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed. They nailed the sound and it was my favorite car to drive. I have the biggest desire to build one now it looks like so much fun!

rarbona 1029 I LOVED that game growing up, hah. 👌🏻
this is the only one take in which I actually noticed scenery, this car would probably be my ideal cruiser.
The funniest thing about this video was raising the windows so that we could hear them, but it's as loud as it was before... If anything, the whistle made it worse haha! Love those old Porsches, they look amazing and seem to be a ton of fun to drive.
God damn that's a stunning little car
lol i like that he just committed to the window roll up even when the decision backfired terribly
This is the Porsche I most want to own, so so cool!
Favorite part is when Matt actually pulls out and you get a sneak peak at the upcoming cars
I've watch these one takes from day one hands down best looking car on here
My dad had maybe 10 356s when I was a kid. Seemed decently fast back in the early 80s. He had some nice ones, including a late model "super 90", and none cost more than $20 grand back in the day.
As Matt says this model was produced parallel to the 911 from early '64 to the summer of'65. It is said that especially many lady drivers in Germany and other places were nervous that the leap from 75 bhp to 130 bhp was too big. Also the leap from 17.000 DEM (USD 3.900) to 23.950 DEM ( USD 5.200) kept some traditional Porsche drivers to stick to the 356. Especially the SC with 95 bhp was fast enough for 10,8 seconds to 60. So therefore Porsche presented the 912 with 90 hp in 1965 to keep those customers.
Cool car, looking good. And plugging his site is a nice touch.
Gotta love that car. Nice color combo.
Lmaoo "Where do you get tires for this thing?", "The Mountain Bike Store"
This is awesome!
what a treat! Car looks stunning too.
Devin & Matt look like best of buddies ...but looked really nervous ,please be careful with our $150k motor

This is just lovely!!
Interesting video. I would like to see more classic car one take's.
Matt, quit pulling the windows up and worrying about wind noise. I personally hear you clearly even if you have the roof and windows down. You just deprive us of engine noise when you do that. Test it for yourself if you don't believe me, you have a good mic I think and you must be placing it well. Awesome videos. Keep 'em coming.
SWEET RIDE!!!
a fresh coat of paint can really make a car look fresh and new, damn that girl shines
That Merc looks so good, can't wait
Very, very nice. Thank you men.
Had to check if I was brewing some tea. Lol
These cars are absolutely beautiful, I loved Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed, it really turned me on to vintage Porsche.
Love these cars, great vid. This is the sort of ride you take out on a long winding road and just settle into a nice rhythm. And he's right... I would totally let that car in. I would even sacrifice my car if it meant saving a 356 from a wreck.
Dude I drive my ‘71 911T, everyone smiles, I drive my ‘70 914-6, most look at me weird or laugh ... I drive my boosted 930 Turbo and I get the “bird”! For some reason I did not enjoy my test drive of a 996 GT3, kept the heat be 930!
glad to be here before anyone has finished the video
I kind of wish my dad did something like this as a build between us. Awesome car.
This kettle is black, it whistles, and it has no opinions of the other kitchenware.

I would rock that in decal form.
One of my most favorite cars ever. The C is so much prettier than the earlier models.
Good stuff, I learned to drive a manual on a 914 and now have that and a 356SC! Feels odd to me to drive a car w/o bottom hinge pedals.
Beautiful machine!!!
That is a thing of beauty!
What a sexy engine sound and classy lookin’ just loved it! Subscribed!!
Beautiful classy machine, prefer to see some chrome on the wheels though.
Love that classic!!

You would be less so if you saw what that car looked like. Ratty before ratty was cool. Wish i had it back though. Its collecting dust somewhere in the Inland Empire now last i heard.
Hey Matt you're looking slim , keep at it!
I saw one at the local dealership. It was in great condition, not cheap.
Dammit Matt, now I want one, and you tell me they're expensive now! Guess the dream of a lightweight, minimalistic classic Porsche is un-doable.
Finally seeing what the rear engine looks like... I now actually get why Clarkson ribs Hammond for Porsche's being VW Bug's. Like...I knew they came from the same lineage, but seeing it really solidified it for me.
THE MERC!! cant wait!

Haulin' class!
NICE! Adam Sandler "The Buffoon" reference much appreciated!!!
Wait so bumping the displacement from 1600 to almost 1800 only resulted in 3 more hp? Seems like a lot of work for that. I hope there is some considerable torque gain at least. Beautiful car though!

Zarko Zaharov I was kind of joking when I said that 😬. This was shot maybe 100-200 miles after the rebuild, the car has really broken in now. Drives much better now and the butt dyno says 80 maybe? Hah

dig your car, but you are wrong on the beetle. I challenge you to find a really good original beetle, same year as your 356, put the same wheels and tires on it, red konis up front, bilstein gas at the rear, same basic engine mods, and you will not be disappointed. Maybe go up to 195s in the rear. And, yes, beetles also want at least one window cracked open too. vent wing just a tad.

no worries. i have had the pleasure of driving in low mileage original, or even brand new beetles back in the 90s. my own 59 beetle was a pleasure on the autobahn and on mountain passes in the alps. you should try it
Glorious car!
Loved driving these in the old game Need for Speed: Porsche unleashed. Flat out at like 60mph.
Excited to see that Merkur!
A nice car good job!
I'd love to have ensurance I can drive around in! ;)
Not my cup of tea, but what a sweet little car. Glad to see a special classic being loved.
I never understood the hate for outlaws
porsche was simply beautiful and pure fun back then
Sippin coffee every time to " on center'
nice guy -great car.
What a beauty!
Beautiful! :0)
i had a 65 mustang with a built 302 swap making around 300hp/420ftlb or so and i feel like i still ended up driving that thing at 10/10s, cant imagine some of these slower cars in traffic haha
912's are great cars. I love my '66. Still a bit undervalued.
One of the best cars that I ever owned!
73hp, still faster than the clutchless "manual" MR2

Fantastic example.
They are called "Sebring Gears". 2nd for hair pins and 3rd & 4th down the runways (South then West).
Those things are fun. They drive like a go kart. There's a reason why Christopher Lloyd had one as his daily driver for about 40 years
This guys is pretty cool
Thanks go out to Matt for a fun day and when you edit the Mercedes "One Take" can you make sure I look taller and more handsome then my son.
Had to a super beetle as a kid. People told me "you have a poor mans Porsche"
