My wife just gave me one for Christmas. Started working on it today. I went with a black body with red interior. I saw one on Mecum Auctions with the same colors and I thought it was beautiful. As my wife, it’s the closest I’ll ever get to owning a ‘65 GTO. 😀

I have waited days to see this report with peace. It was absolutely worth it.

Pretty much captures the look of a 5 years old *California* *beach* *car's* appearance : tonnes of surface rust ( cars at the beaches here rot from the top-down ) , oxidised paint , 3 different tyres , and a sunbaked interior . *Perfect* !

Most annual kits shared most everything in hardtop & convertible kits. It was usual for interiors of "annual" kits to have convertible "pockets molded with rear seats.

Very nice. Really like your weathering. Sidenote: my wife's cousin had one of these. Same make and model. He worked in a bodyshop, so his DIDN'T stay weathered. lol He fixed it up into a real beauty.

I always had a thing for GTOs because my first car was a 64 GTO in 1973. I was just getting into stock car racing and cut up real 65, 66 and a 67 GTOs make into dirt track cars.

I've done that on abandoned cars, but it's hard to drive it to the street to sell with flat tires.

Glad they put the Hurst wheels in it. I have the 64 Johnny lightning tie in kit from 2009 that has the Hurst wheels. Damn turbine wheels, shows the 90s heritage of this one,lol

I love how you make up stories for your models. When I built models as a youngster these cars were brand new and I built them factory new without a history. Probably why building models became boring for me. I am tempted to start building them again/ with a story this time! B. T. W. I’m 68.

Another great job! I do alot of model railroading and it is easier to make things more beat up and grimy than factory fresh! Leaves were awesome! I want to build one like this. Maybe hold it over a candle to soften the plastic and put some dents in it. A trick i used before is to use rubber cement as a masker and brush it on the windshield in the path of the wipers. Let it dry then dullcote the whole thing. After that dries. Peel off the rubber cement and you have a clean streak where the wiper would have went across the windshield. Looks cool. Again another informative enjoyable video. I like your soundtrack too. Very relaxing

Okay already - I'll try to comment another way - Nice to see this kit restored to its original issue glory - even enhanced with superior decals & tire options! The "Modified Stocker" series included the '65 GTO, and this kit could easily have been considered as having been "Lost" - except Round 2 seem to have some mighty talented mold-masters able to do amazing restoration! '66 Buick Skylark from "Modified Stocker" graveyard would be a genuine treat to see restored, too! What else would the rest of Chris' subscribers add to the "wish list for Rond 2 consideration?" MPC '33 chevy Panel, maybe - even if molded in red with "Coke" markings! Okay, I'll try again! Nice to

You do some pretty awesome work on these models. I watched this one and compared it to the red one you did around 8 months ago. I think I like the AMT better than the MPC versions. Both look awesome by the way , I just like the detailing on the AMT better. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️

Wow! Great job! I’m a late comer to building model car kits but I’m loving it. I just built the Joey Saldana Sprint car that you also built. I’m learning a lot watching your videos. My daughters and I have even watched some together. Thanks for keeping it family friendly. I really want to build a Late Model dirt track car. The kind that has the flattened roof. I can find die cast but not build kits. Do you have any recommendations? Again thanks for the awesome videos!

They really need to fix the front bumper piece. Those headlights are all sorts of bad. Be nice to retool and make the kit modern.

Agreed! AMT/ERTL butchered those headlights badly back in the 80's. Never really understood what happened, as they clearly had access to the original tooling. Ugh. All that said, great job Chris!!

Excellent weathering as always. Do you know how to make realistic looking dents and rust holes in body panels? If so would love to see it in a video.
