A very beautiful and accurate presentation ! Congratulations, Rakesh ji, your videos are a treat to watch. My favourite movies of 1965 are "Waqt" and "Arzoo". Sadhana was indeed the topmost star in the mid sixties, and also the highest paid. It is said that she got Rs. 5 lakhs for "Arzoo" ! She was not only beautiful but also a generous person. In 1965 she donated Rs. 75,000 plus jewelry to the then Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri for the National Defence Fund . A huge amount in those days . Perhaps she was the only movie star to do so.

बेहद उम्दा प्रस्तुति! 1965 gave us so many iconic films. एक झटके में ' गाइड', 'वक़्त' इत्यादि देखी हुई फिल्मों के डायलॉगस् याद आ गए: * गाइड : १.मौत एक ख़याल है जैसे ज़िंदगी एक ख़याल है.. २. लगता है आज हर इच्छा पूरी होगी .. पर मज़ा देखो.. आज कोई इच्छा ही नहीं रही.. * वक़्त : १.जिनके अपने घर शीशे के हों वो दूसरों पर पत्थर नहीं फेंका करते.. २. राजा के ग़म को किराये के रोने वालों की जरूरत नहीं पड़ेगी चिनॉय सेठ.३. ये (चाकू) बच्चों के खेलने की चीज़ नहीं.. हाथ कट जाए तो खून निकल आता है.. पुरानी यादें ताजा कराने के लिए और अंजाने पहलुओं से अवगत कराने के लिए अशेष धन्यवाद राकेश जी 🙏

All top 10 best Hindi films of 1965 were colour films.. Dev Anand, 's Guide gave him Filmfare Award The year proed successful for Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Dharmendra ,the new trinity of the 1960s. Songs really belonged to the Golden Era. Sunil Dutt and Meena Kumari deserved Filmfare Acting Awards. Songs of all the ten films were popular. Waqt was the first multi starter film. The year proved successful in the history of Indian films . Excellent narration by Rakeshji Sadeo.

I still fail to understand the reason why guide was taken into account for 1966 awards.This caused a great disadvantage to Dharmendra who though nominated for best actor award Phool aur Patthar lost to Devanand.It would have been interesting if Guide would have won 7 awards in 1965.Further Raaj kumar did not get award for kaajal though he was nominated for both best actor and best supporting actor.For 1965 Sunil dutt best actor khandan,Meena best actress for kaajal,Yashchoora director for waqt Ravi best musician for Khansan and Himalya ki God main best film.It would have been interesting how guide would have fared for1965 awards.filmdareawards started in 1954.so may be in 1956old films were taken.But I think it did not happen afterwards.So why guide was taken in 1966 is strange.Dharmendra could not get filmfareaward afterwards though nominated for Mera gaon Mera desh,Resham ki dori and Yadon ki barat

Mehmood and Helen are toppers - always will be. Success on their own merit....naturals - despite jealous, petty and insecure "stars" like Manoj Kumar. Shame on ppl like Manoj Kumar. He also "refused" to sing the song from Aadmi played back by Talat Mahmoud. He made sure it was rerecorded using Mahendra Kapoor. The director should have fired Manoj Kumar for being disrespectful and selfish.

I clearly remember in that month of may 1966, we heard few of best songs from hindi films Songs of Guide, Suraj, Mamata, Anupama, Budtameez, Gumnaam ( which was released at the fag end of 1965 but still songs were popular on Radio Ceylon and Vividh Bharati.)

The next generation will not have anyone compiling such homeruns on the Ranveers, Rabirs, Varuns, Siddharths and the host of scantiliy clad heriones - because - there are none!!! There is a reason why singing contest shows sing Rafi Sahab, Asha Bhonsle, Lata, Mukesh songs, not the UNmemorables of the monotonous Arijits.

Manoj was so hypocrite that he promoted Mukesh and Mohinder kapoor instead Rafi saheb in his films. He was religiously biased and rose above his religion.
