1965 Flood Hudson Wisconsin

Old 8 mm film taken by my dad in the spring of 1965 when the St. Croix River in Hudson, Wisconsin reached record level flood stage. This clip taken on 2 or 3 different days includes the train bridge south of the south dam flowing out of Lake Mallalieu, both the train bridge and the car bridge leading to the old Hudson Depot, United Refrigeration (just north of the dike road entrance), the old Hudson band shell, the railroad tracks that ran along the river west of main street, the St. Croix Marina just before and after the road flooded, you can see the old ice race track on the frozen part of the river near the marina. The Hudson waste water treatment plant and the old interstate bridge viewed from Birkmose Park, flooded houses and sandbagging behind Ericksons Grocery Store, Hudson Swing bridge just about flooded over.

Not the best video, but better than no video. Nice to see the Hudson Marina as it used to look like and as I remembered it back in the day. Same with much of the waterfront with the old RR tracks, etc. Glad he documented this. I wished I had taken more photos from back in those days.
