Rudy, your work is beautiful. Recently, one of our clients had an upholstery shop redo the seats in his airplane. The workmanship is pretty shoddy as the new upholstery just doesn’t fit the seats well. All the edges and corners are wrinkled and don’t conform to the seat properly. It’s just the little things that can let the whole job down. Cheers

I think that is why those wide throat industrial machines are so important. If you try pleats in a regular machine your prone to getting off track because you're fighting so many restrictions and can't concentrate on the stitch. I think if your young and thinking anything at all about even just your own occasional upholstery invest in the right gear because I guarantee once you have done one small piece you will do want to have the ability for the rest of your life. Oh, and have the ability to take everything with you in one trip when your wife kicks you out.

Hello sir. I only recently found your channel a couple days ago as I went to the Internet to see how to fix a sagging headliner for a 1988 Buick. Not only did you show me how to do that, I fell in love with the idea of doing this type of work! I am 62 years old, mostly retired, I buy and sell classic cars. Interior is always a problem in my area because the very few places that do it are always booked out for several months. And some of them don’t want to do repairs, they just want to pick and choose custom jobs. What I wanted you to know is that you have inspired me to possibly take up a whole new field of pursuit. I am too old to start a new business, especially with my questionable hands, but I may start into it just as a hobby type of thing. I just love the idea of mastering an area of auto repair that most people have no idea how to fix. I have subscribed, and I like every video as I watch them, and I hope you come out with many more. I just wanted you to know that you have inspired an old guy and got me interested in giving it a try! God bless.

Richard, as always you make it look so easy. Why don’t these customers want new foam, I’d think it would be more comfortable and smell fresher inside. So many classics at car shows just smell old even with nice looking interiors. I believe in buy once , cry once.

Hello Clint, Thank you so much for saying so. In old cars, it will be very obvious if the foam needs to be changed. Original is best for the shape of the seat. Hello Richard, another beautiful job. I live about 30’ish miles south of your area and have seen some of the effects of humidity and moisture on metals but I was really curious about what you find on the interior frames of some of these seats. For instance, when you used the steel vs plastic listing wire is that always your preference? Have you seen one rust? How does any potential rusty materials affect the foam?

Hi Richard, I do have a question. With templates from previous seats, do you factor in the seam allowance to the material when drawing out the template?

I use the same glue and gun as you, but when I spray it, it seems to dry very quickly. I end up using a lot of glue. What am I doing wrong? The tempature is cool here now 60 70 degrees.

Hello Kentucky, when you say dries very quickly, do you mean 5 minutes? 15 minutes? I usually try to put two pieces together within 5-10 minutes. Please keep liking and watching!
