You’re right, even on the old 235 cid inline 6 Chevies we always ran split manifolds and glass packs!! Best sounding pipes are with packs

those cars were made for glasspacks, with the packs close to the engine and the longer pipes, made the reverb sound that made the mean pop and snap sound, perfect.
