Great memories, as a kid I occasionally was driven past that factory on Warner Ave which was near US Divers as I recall. I never went in the factory as a teenager because I lived closer to Fenwick in Westminster...the folks there were pretty amazed that a 12 year old kid was making his own spinning rod with their blank. Thanks for sharing this video Wallace...I finally got to go inside 50 years later!

I've got my Grandpa's old Garcia Conolon..still in great shape for the age! Goes to show the difference between the quality of handcrafted and how products are thrown together now! I'd love to work in a place like this!

I got one too nice rod trout fishing matching reel too works great

I’ve been using my father and grandfather’s old Garcia Conolon rods and they still work like a charm. I use them for my trout rods.

I've started to use my new to me saltwater Conolon rods more this year. The parabolic action of the rod feels very good with modern small conventional saltwater reels. Filled to the brim with braid and a short mono or fluorocarbon leader. The braid to short leader makes the line fairly sensitive. You can feel the bait fish swimming and when it gets bit. The softer action of the rod helps absorb the head shakes of the hooked fish. Leading to less pulled or torn hooks when using braid.

I came across a mint condition Royal Javelin 78614 in the original Aluminum Tube capped with the Green Conolon Top at A local Goodwill for $7 today! Crazy find

I used to have a five star Conolon I loved, with it's five miles deep epoxy finish on the guides, with a Mitchell 300. Somebody stole it, and I still miss it almost 40 years later!

@SavageArmsMan A company called NARMCO invented the hollow fiberglass rod they called Conolon in 1948. They sold blanks worldwide so you will find many vendor names on these. They also sold their own line of great fishing rods. In 1960, the Garcia Corporation bought this company and renamed it Garcia Conolon Corporation. Hope this helps, Wallace

@SavageArmsMan Prior to Garcia buying out the old company, they had rods made for them along with many others including Mitchell. That's what your grandpa had.
