Only the size matters here. Take the penny and the dime for example… they follow the same route but as it gets closer to the end the curve of the plastic forces both coins towards the left (from the coin’s perspective). If you are small like a dime you stay in the slot but if you are larger like a penny, being forced to the left puts you on a ramp that now moves you to the penny lane. Or think of it as a car and a semi truck in the number 1 lane on a freeway. If they were both forced to the left towards the barrier by 3 feet the car would maintain being in that lane but the semi with the larger wheels would ride up and over that barrier and wind up in a different lane. (The number one lane in the opposite direction. )

If you watch, first, the quarters separate out to the right because they are too big to go left. Then, the nickels separate out to the left because they are too large to go right. Next, the pennies, go right since they are too large to go left. Which, lastly leaves the dimes to settle in between the nickels & the pennies. If this machine actually erred, it could be a smaller coin mistakenly falling into a larger coins slot due to the coins being poured too fast. Have a great day.

Kewl, watched a few times, still dont know how the coins are sorted
@gujeffrey5433
Жыл бұрын
They are sorted based on their weights. A heavier coin has more momentum and would therefore slid over the edge while a lighter one would stay within the track.
@forkboy3309
Жыл бұрын
has nothing to do with momentum. they are sorted based on size. the last few bends get increasingly slimmer. the larger coins get thrown out (with a little help from a vibrating motor) and the smaller coins continue down.

i think the thickness of coins has a role to play in this magical detail
@xj11w2c7
Жыл бұрын
Yeah it looks like the diameter of the coin as it snakes through the path determines which path it ends on. If you look in the middle it's pennies and dimes and the penny is bigger than the dime so it can't go down the dime path and the dime path is deeper than the penny path so it can't go down the penny path. Quarters are on the right and nickels are on the left
