1960 Deville - First Drive

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Don't worry, I washed the car shortly after and ultimately repainted her. Check out www.crowdedgarage.com/60-cadil... for the full story!
After a complete motor rebuild, I took my 1960 Cadillac Coupe Deville around the Rocket Motors property.
Special thanks to Rockey and Paul for their generous help throughout.

It's not a car, it's a glorious earth ship made to ride until the sunset and conquer the Americas. 🚗👏👏🙋‍♂️

Thanks for the comments, and here are some answers and updates: 1) She was outside while I was busy rebuilding the motor, but was washed right after this video. 2) Yes, she is loud. If she was totally original I would put mufflers on, but being custom/modified already, I left the exhaust loud. 3) Also, after two years of hard work, a set of whitewall tires and a fresh paint job I sold her a couple weeks ago. It was a long journey and thanks for watching!

Back then all cars looked the same too! The 1959-60 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and Pontiacs all shared the same roofline, some even the same parts! And that is just the GM line. They just are not seen in great numbers anymore that is why we love them so much. (I'm an ex 1960 Cadillac owner) Most cars from this era had acres of chrome, big fins and drank fuel like it was going out of fashion. Now they are small, compact, miserly on fuel and they are all the same?

But as you said, maybe 6 brands of cars have similar styles, but today is crazy.. I couldn't tell the difference from the 2017 model of a regular car from the 2018

GMC went for quite a while without changing anything on their trucks so they could run the same TV commercials over and over year after year.

I agree maybe it´s because they something special. I wouldn´t want to see them on every corner, it´s like finding a flower in the automotive desert of the today. I´m 20 and I just can´t imagine these cars once being standart. Plus I doubt that the people philosophized too much about the dramatic ornamental work, for them these cars were just.. cars. But the designers of today are going in a questionable direction, that´s for sure!

Not really. One in this condition and running can fetch somewhere near 8k to 12k, and that's not too bad, if you consider the alternative of buying a restored or original. Then the prices can get outragious! 😔

This is a car, todays cars are generated by computers and have no styling at all (boring).Todays cars are like shopping trollies with engines.

The tooling required for these cars were insane. Stamps and presses for all those body panels with all those lines were changed every year not to mention all the different chrome or stainless trim too. I get a headache just thinking about this.
