As a Moroccan, it pains me to how the French girl is patronising my fellow countryman Omar by being snarky and annoying, not only because it sums up the relationship us North Africans had and still do with France and Frenchmen but also because of how hard was to learn English back in the 60s in Morocco since we were highly influenced by the Francophone Culture. To see Omar talking this calmly and consistently while presenting good arguments against the linguistic and political ganging he was faced by is amazing to me

​@@theone7418 Well I live in it and I've been subjected to racist behaviour and I have friends and family members who did for multiple arrays of reasons but it is not a reason to put a verdict on the whole country about it, each country have its own share of these discriminatory behaviours. Morocco is a very diverse country culturally and you'll find a lot of contradictions living aside. What you have seen on TV is more of Xenophobia than Racism which related to the issue of Sub-Saharan illegal immigration which affects the social balance of an already developing economy and newly hybrid representative democracy. Our history with slavery is different than that of the U.S. or Europe and it has a different cultural context that westerners tend to conflate out of their ignorance. In Morocco there is no systemic racism or discrimination on the basis of complexion, you could argue language more and still it won't make a good argument. Next time try to inspect more before saying nonsense about places you don't know nothing about instead of relying on comforting conclusions

The Argentinean had good foundations and they wouldn't let her speak, the French woman was rude and arrogant, the Dane was living in a bubble, and the Moroccan, if he had spoken better English, would have been able to argue better.

There wasn't "cooperation" between nations, just exploitation and dominance over the place being colonized. Some arguments the boy from Morocco said may be different from what I think, but they had their every right to rebel against their colonizers, with or without nationalism as the others perceived it.

I think the whole conversation was starting on a bad foot since some of the participants were confused about the concept of Nationalism and were mixing it with Patriotism, hence why Omar for example was fervent about defending it since he is from a newly independent country

The French girl is saying nothing meaningful nor useful, yet she keeps cutting people off to say absolutely nothing noteworthy. The Dane's speech on the needlessness of independence is VERY cringeworthy.

I've watched at least 12 or 13 of these so far and I agree with others that the French girl is incredibly rude and it's offputting the whole energy. Worst debate of this series I've seen so far. The French girl took Omar's presence as a personal opportunity for her to attack him as a representative of his country as hers was it's previous oppressor. How obnoxious and self righteous. Same colonial & imperialistic defensive offense played by the South African girl in the 1958 season.

The host lady needs special mention and deserves lot of praise for her knowledge, for asking probing questions and for facilitating a smooth interaction from these highly accomplished youngsters from different nationalities, backgrounds and with preconceived set beliefs and ideas.

For The Europeans Nationalism = Hitler and all that hate filled nonsense. But for Asians and most of the other countries Nationalism and Patriotism are one and the same . Its the feeling against Colonialism / Imperialism . They see only through their Eurocentric lens . Thats why still now they try to differentiate between Nationalism and Patriotism. Patriotism - Good , Nationalism - Bad - Hitler. They view of the world and its history is very narrow . I am from India very much see this difference even now. All our freedom Fighters were Nationalist . The very concept of Nation is different in India . India is a Civilization State with all its diversity that's inherent in it. It has a rich and long history than many of the the European Nations .Europeans fail to realize this about India and many of the Asian countries.

The French girls arrogance is hard to bare,it is evidence of why imperialism is not only bad for those it is imposed upon. She never listened to her counterpart from Morocco, and wanted to inform him about his own country. 2 years post independence is an incredibly short time. Also all imperialist on this show have the same talking points, how benevolent their country was to another. Logic would tell them imperialism wasn’t philanthropic.
