Interesting, all of your old English cars have an idle speed of well over 1,000 rpm. Mine run more like 600-800 rpm. With the 1,200 + rpm they obviously have a higher oil pressure. ;-)

Always move to OD under acceleration, it completely smooth, dont let off the gas to move it.
