Besides his killer playing, Michael made a great point that I hadn't considered before. A guitar that was built in 1954, designed for the music of the time, can be used for any form of music that came after it. Remarkable engineering.

Fantastic! think about how much history has happened since 1954 and that strat not only survived all those brutal winters and summers etc BUT still looks fantastic! Just like Norm! lol Thanks Jen and Michael for showing us these amazing instruments!

There’s a video on this page where they talk about how Norm wanted to go about restoring this one. I recommend watching that, it’s a fun video. I think there are two parts, the first where they discuss what to do and then part 2 showing the restoration results. Also Lemmo here demoed this guitar also in the condition is arrived in with the previous refin. So this finish you see here is the third time it’s been finished and the second refin. Also it has brand new frets here as well. I can’t remember what else they did. That’s why it looks so clean since it was just restored

How blessed are we just to get to listen to a piece of history like that? And that strat delivers the goods. Holly sheep herders 😮

I always find it amazing that these guitars that were created in a time when hard rock didn't exist ( yet ) react so well to distortion... I am the proud owner of a '57 strat and that thing blows away any so-called metal axes...of course it does clean sounds pretty well too 😁😁

My 2014 60th Anniversary '54 Strat looks almost the same, regarding the grain ash ❤ LES

I had the 50TH Anniversary issue of this but it also had the humbucker sounding p/u The best Strat I ever had The Tobacco Burst is beautiful and the reveal of the grain of the wood. Awesomeness

I have a friend that had an old Strat with serial# 056. The Fender logo on the headstock was a rope decal. He traded this fine axe for a '61 Les Paul Deluxe, SG shape, white with 3 gold pickups and that crazy sideways vibrato. Super guitars.

@@Nightshade1881 I own a Fender Custom Shop 1954 50th Anniversary Masterbuilt Strat by Mark Kendrick. Bought it new. Very cool guitar and lucky to own it, but not the real deal.

All I can say is Wow!

I actually owned Ike Turners 54 and it was the best sounding strat due to the pickups . Played it through a Peavey classic 4/10 and it sounded like an Orchestra. Before it got away from me , I replaced the 3 way switch with a 5 way . Man the tone was undescribable. So now I have a 59 custom with 5 way ...Total heaven . Have always loved the 2 tone sunburst..Tobacco sunburst etc . Believe it or not I'm playing it through a Fender Champion 100.
