I fell in love with these back in 1986 after seeing the one Stallone drives in Cobra..took me years to find out what it actually was (no Google smartphones back then unfortunately) .. I’ve loved the chopped Ford Mercury’s to this very day & I probably always will..absolutely stunning ! 🤪🙏🏻

Man does that bring back memories of my 1950 Mercury Lead Sled I had it had a flat head three deuce set up on it .

Tony did a great job telling his car story and what makes for a proper chopped Mercury custom. I was really disappointed that the interior was skipped. Today I saw another beautiful Mercury custom. The body and paint were perfect and all the modern mechanical upgrades were tastefully done. the interior was another story. With the brief look and no explanation it looks like the interior was tastefully done. What makes for a good custom/restomod upgrades are modern gages/radios ect that have a vintage look. Years ago I saw a Mercury lead sled that had an amazing interior done with a 65 Thunderbird rear seat. I can't remember if it included front buckets. I've always loved the look of the 64-66 curved rear seat.

This is one of the best Chopped Mercury's around! Belongs to long time friend Tony Adsley.

And that Merc looks like a 49 Merc if I saw the dash I could tell you , and Merc rear ends were very tough ..

Agree. The dash is for sure a 49. I had a 51 so I am 100% sure.

In 1975 at age 15 I looked all over for my first car. I wanted a 51 merc. No luck. I did find and buy a 51 ford custom. Sure wish I had that car now.

I write instrumental rock music and have a new song called Led Sled, I want to use videos like this behind it. Can I ? Is there any way to get an original copy of it ( I'm asking a bunch of people who have posted these ). Thanks

They ran what was called Hollywood mufflers my dad had them on him Merc's I have Merc like yours , but haven't driven it in year's .

This is not a '51 Merc....it is a '49 OR it has a '49 dashboard transplant. It is easier to change the rear fenders than to switch dashboards. An easy switch is the exchange of taillights for the three segment Lincoln lights. I know, I had a '49 4-door, modified suspension front and rear, Caddy rear air shocks to level for extra rear loading in the trunk or rear seat (for the drive-in.)

ALSO.....the hood doesn't have the '51 lip (when you remove the chrome trim at the bottom edge) . This is a '49 with '51 rear fender grafts and '54 Merc taillights. The alternate is the Packard Clipper teardrop flare. The vent windows are also removed here. I kept mine front and rear for better ventilation in the rain.

This is not a 51 Merc. It's a 49. Has a 49 dashboard and rear window. 51 rear fenders.

Its a 51 they just put a 49 dash in it and when they chopped it they put a 49-50 back window in it. It is a very popular thing to put 49-50 back windows on a 51. And with the dash, it is very easy to put a different year dash in these cars.

Beautiful car it is very sexy I would like to know who G strings hanging from your rear view mirror that's a mind boggling Please comment back I know people who usually have dice hanging from their rear view mirrors you got some woman's G-string Hanging from yours nice touch I have got a 78 Monte Carlo I used to do car shows with and I have the same thing but my nickname at a car show was pimp daddy on the style of my car I just time not cars for sale had it too long It is like I am married to it 18 years I've had it Please comment back on the G-string nice touch thank you for the video and like I said the car is very sexy

This is probably the only car that needs the roof chopped to customize, none other!
