1950s/60s LMS Steam Around The Midlands.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A look at LMS Steam workings around the Midlands during the 1950s and 60s. All credits must go to the producers of A-Z Video Tapes The Changing Face Of British Railways. I bought these tapes in the early 90s. Enjoy a blast from the past.

Lovely. Absolutely invaluable for modelling purposes. Nice to see New Street station back in the days when my grandad was a Postal Inspector there.

Thats right, a tarted-up shopping centre overhead with entrance lobby, and still the same amount of congested tracks at rail level, at a cost of xxx millions !

Cheers Monica and Paul. I enjoyed my time on the footplate during the early 60s. With these videos I have tried to recreate those happy times and fond memories for everyone else to watch, there are others from the same era somewhere on my channel that you may enjoy watching. Best Regards...Bill

such memories takes me back to my trainspotting days aged 12 in 1960. Not much interested in modern trains. Could this film be digitally remastered to sharpen it up and make it clearer?

Thanks for looking/commenting, I hope this bought back some fond memories for you from all those years ago. I would imagine given the right software videos such as this which were filmed with cine cameras at the time could well be enhanced to improve the quality. Regards...Bill

The narrator really reminds me of Ringo Star, so it's like Island of Sodor IRL

At 1:43 that narrator claims the loco is a Rebuilt Patriot but I thought all 18 members of the class rebuilds received full Stanier cab upgrades. It appears to me that the engine is actually a Rebuilt Royal Scot. I could be wrong though.

Unfortunately I can't be sure if the loco mentioned was a rebuilt Patriot or Scot. Sorry about that, thanks for taking the time to view and comment. Regards...Bill
