@@RayNumber2 Have you ever made something an idol, used God’s name as a cuss word, disobey your parents, murder (God views hate as murder), lusting, stealing, lying, wanting something another has that isn’t rightfully yours? Doing so we violating the law, which is sin, and because of sin there is a punishment…If a serial killer like Ted Bundy tells a judge of all the good things he’s done for society do you think the judge would let the serial killer off free? The same is with us; we’ve committed such crimes against God that we are separated from God forever; we are punished by suffering Hell for eternity, a place with no hope for us. But God loves us so much and with all his heart that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, to this cursed world to be crucified on the cross. (John 3:16-17) Now anyone who accepts Jesus Christ, God’s Son, as their Lord and Savior and believes he rose from the dead the third day will be saved from eternal damnation in Hell and live in Heaven in paradise with him forever. Many will choose to follow Satan, whether it be because they think they won’t succeed otherwise or won’t have any joy or friendships, but he will soon reveal himself as a murderer and a liar as he was since the beginning and he will curse all his followers as he cursed God and all of Satan’s followers will be cased into ever burning Hell. Don’t believe this lie I too believed in! Our God is a loving God full of compassion, yet he is a righteous God with righteous judgment. (Matthew 13:41-42)

That waiter had a 4 bedroom house with 3 acres and supported a family of 5. The home was purchased for $21,000. He also had a substantial savings. Today his property is worth 2.7m

Yup. His property isn't his anymore the government took it bc his grandchildren working at the same diner couldn't even afford 1/4 of the taxes for that property now with their wage. Sold it by parents split used to buy houses. The grandkids then are left apartment living or 40 year old virgin living at home in today's world

From the stories I heard of 50s diner I doubt this place would be a buffer from an abusive father. My elder relatives who were kids in this era always said the diners, especially in the city got violent when high school class was dismissed for the day. Usually brawls would break out, gangs were formed in places like this. Also the spot was used for high schoolers to get laid. In bars like this there wasn’t racial segregation, I was told it rarely got violent between races. Mostly because bets were put on the high schoolers fighting each other when one broke out for reasons never specific and that entertainment was more a distraction from the racial differences.

@@valkyrie3631 For minimum wage to be equivalent today to what it was in 1950 it would have to be $9.50. Federal minimum has been $7.25 since 2009. Half the states still use that as their minimum. Even if you considered the housing market not crashing in 2008 it would still not be possible to buy a house because the purchasing power of the dollar has decreased and the minimum wage has decreased aswell.

When I was a kid in the early 90s, 49 cents would actually buy you a 3 Musketeers candy bar at Walgreens. And a carton of milk at school was 25 cents. I actually remember that. I also remember in High School when $1.90/gallon was considered "expensive" for gas prices in my area. Now I live in an area where it hasn't dropped below $4.20/gallon in almost a year. I hate inflation.
