I got to watch the races on the Detroit river when i was about 5 or six yrs old. Awesome.
I just loved that video from the past and seeing the famed Big Bandleader Guy Lombardo of the Royal Canadians, winning the Detroit Gold Cup.😊👍👍
Loved every second!
Guy Lumbardo winning the Detroit River Gold Cup. Who would have known these days. The seven sisters in the background. And the narrator is just perfect!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing
70 mph record!?! Wow, the revolution was around the corner. In the early 50's, the Slo-Mo hydroplane was a vast improvement and started a new generation of boats, where 100mph average was the minimum to qualify, and they were nearing 200mph on longer straightaways.
At 8:57, Charles F. Kettering. Cool.
This is sensational
Wow. Great stuff.
Amazing
The war was won, party time. This is an area I sail in often. Those days are long gone though. There are a few boats, lots of "SWATed up" Police and customs boats.
