70 mph record!?! Wow, the revolution was around the corner. In the early 50's, the Slo-Mo hydroplane was a vast improvement and started a new generation of boats, where 100mph average was the minimum to qualify, and they were nearing 200mph on longer straightaways.

The war was won, party time. This is an area I sail in often. Those days are long gone though. There are a few boats, lots of "SWATed up" Police and customs boats.
