In general the ones minted in the correct metallic composition are not worth much. Perhaps in MS-67 and higher, they would be premium coins. It's the wrong composition ones that are the desirable coins.

The best part of taking coins to my bank is their machine has a magnet on it. Obviously, the goal is to get all the Canadian money out, but there's usually a steel penny on the magnet. Is it a federal crime to take it? Almost certainly. But I'm guessing no one's really gonna care if someone grabs a penny from the magnet. The Canadian money I take up to the cashier, though.

They are not paying attention. There are people that want them for their personal collection basically just to say they have one. I sold a 1943 steel for 23$ back when I had eBay. I personally would not have paid 5$ . I started the bid at 25 cents hoping to get 3$. Now my 1944 steel a few years back I got big bucks 4300$ for that one. I wish I held it. I sold a 1919 wheat just 2 hours ago for 40$ to a client of my wife who had an empty spot in his book, no matter what anyone says if someone is filling a book or collecting and want one just to fill a collection and you are in the right place at the right time you may get lucky. By the way Dan I gave that 1950D 50cent pcs we talked about to my son I told him at least it has some silver worth. That coin was in mint and the crack was super strong what a damn shame. 30 years ago when I bought it I had no clue what I was buying cleaning a coin was a norm back then I just wanted to fill my personal collection. I personally never have and never will send my coins to be graded. I ask the lesser price and let them worry about grading. Like the 2007 Arizona we talked about. You yourself could see in the pic the extra leaf was there just as I can. Why would I pay someone to tell me what I can already see under my scope. So if the coin is worth 30$ I may ask 15 or 20 max.

Great information. But sure took the steam out of my sails . I have coins & crazy time looking . & Messed my eyes up doing so. & Strait of the top , if they aren't in new, scratch free condition . It's a waste of time .🤔🙃.

I have a 1923 wheat penny with a very peculiar CC stamped in back of it it's very intricate and I know it's not fake because I got it from somebody that had it this whole time and I don't know what sort of error it is

This is where people fail at this. It doesn't matter how long someone had something or how old it is. Second no cent had a CC mint mark and they can't obtain a CC from the mint, so since it can't happen during the coin minting process it is easily deduced that it is a counter stamp and damaged coin. So unless you have paper work from actual US Mint stating otherwise then you have a damaged coin.

values are subjective to how good you are at convincing others about how special what you have to offer or how rare and unusual it is. it is insane to me that anyone buys a coin for a $1M. same thing goes with paintings, cars, memorabilia...etc. if someone is stupid enough to invest hard cold cash on trinkets out of the illusion that it is worth something then i will be glad to sell him all the "valuable" junk i have.
