1943-12-14 Eggs Don't Bounce
Фильм және анимация
The very first Lulu. Rough, but I can see the potential in the character and series.
SLIGHTLY better quality than most of the circulating copies, but MAN it looks pretty damned ashen for a wartime Technicolor cartoon.
WARNING: RACIAL STEREOTYPES

I am a month older than his 1943 cartoon. No tv in our house until 1948/49. Cartoons were few & far between, but we had comic books,& Little LuLu was my favorite. My mother would read them to me. I did not have a lot of comics, I treasured the ones I had though. It is a treat to see these cartoons again. Thank you for posting them.

So strange going from a place in time where being able to have content like this in a home was so sparse, to now where I don't have much income yet I can watch as many episodes of any show I can find, all on my own time with no commercials. I remember having to look at the tv guide in the newspaper to see if something I wanted to watch would be on. We only had 5 channels, and only 3 of them worked, but if it was 7:30 and you were doing something else then you missed it until the next time it ended up being on.
we call my daughter Lulu, and my great grandma sings this theme song to her.
0:47 Got to remind myself that the times are different
Aww man never seen this episode before. Kinda sad that it was made far back to where black face was in style because I love this character. I mean it's the past now, but I definitely didn't think I'd see her in it ever.

Frankly, I don't know why the Mandy character was necessary since Lulu had a mother. She did appear in only one of the cartoons, LULU IN HOLLYWOOD. Mandy as the matriarc figure could have been written for her mother without reliance on the stereotype.

@@RayPointerChannel Back in the 1940s the kind of jobs that African Americans could get were Maids , Butlers ,& Train Porters . African Americans in cartoons weren't drawn realistically & I can understand why some people are offended. In the Betty Boop cartoon " A Language All My Own ". When Betty Boop visited Japan 🇯🇵 , the Japanese were featured in a Positive & Realistic way. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

@@RayPointerChannel I believe it was just their way to include Black Americans in the cartoons because it’s a fact that maids and nannies were one of the main jobs Black women did. My great grandmother (now 90, born in 1933) talks about the kids she used to take care of and they weren’t hers.
This cartoon turns 70 today.

I love this show
This is an interesting series to explore, not quite the way the comic strip saw Lulu, but these were among teh first of the Paramount/Famous color cartoons and Noveltoons series. Of course, there are some bits here that are "of their time", but this shows you how animators can take a comic strip series and add their own "touch" to it.
Little Lu-Lu I love yo-oo just the same, the same!
I wish Little Audrey lasted as long as this

These original classy cartoon-series were never to be seen, down here in Holland, so far. What a surprise.
This was one of the last Famous Studios cartoons to be produced in Miami.
so cute honestly I love films like these
For some reason every print of this cartoon that I've ever seen starts to get out of sync near the end.
@ParamountCartoons Thanks for the tidbit. I was wondering why Tafuri went from being head animator to animator in Waldman's crew. Interesting, The Friendly Ghost was de-facto directed by Tafuri, so this means all the Casper cartoons are products of the same animation unit.

Not to mention Tom Golden ended up In Dave Tendlar’s unit and then later took over Steve Muffatti’s unit
@Uncutcartoons247 That''s most definitely a problem caused by UM&M making TV prints back in the 50's. Musica-Lulu has it even worse. I would absolutely jump out of my skin if Thunderbean or someone else did a Lulu set, for precisely these reasons.
Should Lulu really be in trouble for the broken eggs? She didn't know that the seat would break and send the eggs flying,so it's not really her fault
Cartoon help relief stress everybody should watch 😅
Little LuLu was my favorite comic book. I would trade 2 of any other for 1 of hers
7:44 Oh wow
The most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen. Man, the years weren’t too kind on races, were they?
@TomboyGamerGal

They weren't kind at all in these old cartoons. They used every racial stereotypes that they can think of cause they think it would be funny to white audiences. Races aside, I personally think that these cartoons still have a charm unlike the modern day cartoons. I lose brain cells watching it although there's some "gems" out there.

The maid probably wouldn't have been as mad as Lulu thought, it was just an accident.

It stood for "National Telefilm Associates". They acquired the U.M. & M. TV library in the late 50's and continued to distribute these cartoons for a few decades. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Telefilm_Associates
