I was born in Peshawar. I graduated from UET Peshawar. I remember more than 40 years ago when I was a student, I used to hike on trucks to go from University Town to Sadar. I remember going to Khyber Medical college next door to check out girls 😂😂. I remember student protests. I remember looking underneath the seats for any suspicious bags when getting on public transportation. Then 40 years ago I came to US and never went back . Oh how much I miss those days, those friends, that Namak Mandi that Sadar Bazar. Oh what glorious days. Oh how much I miss you.

They didn't show the Gora grave graveyard near University Road, where many young British soldier's graves are still there, who fought in outstrikes of Peshawar in the Khyber hills against Afridi tribes. English men cut all the forests around the valley of Peshawar mountains, to cleanse all the hiding places of these freedom fighters. Still, these hills are barren that increased the temperatures of the city and decreased the snowfall around considerably. BTW people of all religions, Muslims, Sikhs, Jews, Parsis, and other casts who migrated from central Asia and Iran lived happily in Pashawr, with a common Hindko language blended with a unique Panthan culture. The Hindus of the area refused to leave the town due to the peace and harmony and the protection by the Muslims, but the local Muslim league leaders incited Pathans by taking out the procession with the dead bodies of some Pathans killed in Bombay by the Hindus. The Britishers were also involved as they wanted this city to be governed by the hard-line Muslims, so it could nourish resistance to the advancing communism.

@@SuvaMukherjee yes sir agree with you and you know so many leaders and nawab's of that time were totally against the partition of India, they told the other leaders of the freedom movement like sir Syed Ahmed Khan not to divide India but, to make such govts where they have their own majority like the Hindus in the area of their own majority and the areas of Muslims where they have their own majority but before leaving the feringees bowed a seed of contention in between two countries and that is Kashmir, which is even after passing 75 years still a bone of contention
