Made in the late 1920s or early 1930s as part of Kodak's educational film library, this silent Eastman Classroom Film takes the viewer to Hungary. It begins with a map of Hungary and the effects of the Treaty of Trianon, which saw Austria-Hungary divided up in 1919. It begins with the rural character of the country, showing different crops being harvested, cattle herding, and swamp draining. This is followed by some footage of daily life in a small town including a market and a wedding scene. Next is Budapest, with stunning shots of some of the main attractions such as the Danube, House of Parliament, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the municipal concert hall. It ends with different schools including an elementary and technical school.

Interested in the country of my late husband's grandparents. I was honored to become a member of his family! I realize this is a very old educational video that would be a little stodgy and concentrate on industry and geography. Of more interest to me is the music, folklore, customs and cuisine.

Gyönyörű ország. Csak meg ilyen táplálékot ehetnénk, mint akkor, semmi bajunk nem lenne.

One of the hardest languages to learn, up there with ones like Chinese or Arabic despite using the Latin alphabet.

Grammar is actually rather simple once you see the patterns, the difficulty is memorizing all the vocabulary from scratch.

@@williambreazealeAnd the pronounciation, conjugation, etc. The latter is especially hard. Even foreigners that lived in Hungary for decades don't seem to get the latter right

Semi köze a mongol nyelvhez. Se a törökhöz. A törökök itt voltatok 150 évig pusztitották az országot. Ennyi. E miattAz àtlag magyar utáljája a töröket.
