The govenmnet has NOT accepted a morganatic compromise for Charles and camilla. Although its understood the Queen will of course continue and most probably live longer than her mother this is consequently all somewhat hypothetical. There is also considerable doubt as to the legality of Charles marrange to camilla as the Royal Marriages Act of 1772 has not been fully complied with. Its questionable if succession to the throne under the Act of Settlement 1701 is also accurate.

King George VI did not succeed until the 11th December 1936 upon the abdication of his brother. I am absolutely certain!

His brother (Edward VIII) reigned for 326 days starting on January, 20 1936 succeeding his father (George V) George V`s Reign (1910-1936)

You are correct about that but in your first comment you said that George VI was on the throne in 1930

Oh that was a mistake. I was unsure as to why the title was 1930 Edward VIII when he didn't reign then.

@bookworm266 Our national anthem commemorates how we survived the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. You Brits were being your usual disagreeable selves, capturing our sailors on the high seas and impressing them into service, burning the White House and the Capitol in Washington, D.C., and Fort McHenry in Baltimore. But "the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there." God Save The United States!

Total nonsence the then Prime minister and government would not accept this - it was nothing to do with the (British)Commonwealth as such - get your facts right before you post such inaccurate nonsence
